@M.-Schrijver I did some more testing related to nearest in another region with more mountains and while being somewhere halfway (not near the start). The app indeed finds a track point (when navigating as a track) or a waypoint (when navigating as a route) based on straight line distance. In both cases the result was not what I expected. Because of the mountain the time to those points was longer than the time to other points. It resulted in a route where part of it had to be driven in both ways. This is unrelated to the topic we are discussing here. So I have logged a ticket for support to look at and I suggest we leave that for now.

@Corjan-Meijerink yes, because the phone's processor is so fast and I don't have a laptop. But when I'm planning with my friend on his laptop it's really handy having the waypoints to the left all the time. Especially now I'm having the issue with scrolling through the waypoints. Tomtom pakt route op bij het punt wat ik in het screenshot heb aangegeven. Dat is het dichtstbijzijnde punt. Bij MRA wordt de route niet bij het dichtstbijzijnde routepunt opgepakt. Dat zijn 2 hele verschillende dingen

Niet te geloven, maar hij doet het weer! Niks gedaan behalve (onbedoeld) gewacht. Ineens start de download! Weliswaar niet van de eerder door mij aangevinkt offline kaarten, maar er begon in elk geval iets. Die heb ik gestopt en de gewenste kaarten aangevinkt en toen die gedownload waren, bleek de routebegeleiding het ook weer te doen. #schietmijmaarlek ... En ik zal wel moeten wennen dat de app iedere route een paar keer spontaan stopt. Of dat het scherm knippert. Ik kijk het een paar maanden aan en dan misschien toch maar terug naar een Garmin.

My only comment would be that you might want to try the app with an otherwise redundant phone. I use it with an old Motorola G7 on Android 10. I did a Factory reset on that phone and only run Navigation apps on it. Google maps for point to point. OSMand+ for offroad navigation and Myroute app for motorcycle road navigation and it works fine. My Honda and my car both have dedicated GPS receivers built into the Android Auto head unit I believe that this is not the case for the Carpuride which means the phone has to do additional work locating the device in relation to the app. But at least if you give another phone a try you might be able to narrow down the issue to the app, phone, connection to the Carpuride or GPS signal. I don't know?? but those would be the type of issues I'd be trying to eliminate.

Thank you all for the help. I often take multi day rides with numerous routes fairly close together. I still think being able to join routes where you want to rather than at just the end or the beginning would be very useful.

Thanks - this is exact the way I realized this morning trying a short route. Sometimes very helpful!

There is an Autozoom in Android Auto. I can clearly see this on my screen. But how it works? I don't know. It looks random. My setting is "Both" (speed and directions/crossings). Biggest complain. The crossing with a white arrow shows up in the screen only 120-140 meters before you arrive at the crossing. Too late. The blue line and position indicator are looking good. Did not see any strange things. Smooth graphics. Good job. There is still a clear delay in real position and position on screen. Combine this with the issue of the Auto zoom and you can understand there is an issue. What i noticed about the delay in the position indicator compared to other navigation apps. Other navigation apps are more on par with the real position. But when you take a wrong turn it takes those other apps a longer time before they noticed you took a wrong turn. It seems all navigation apps have the same issues but those other apps do a more aggresive correction to keep it the indicator better on par with your real position.

Pixel Phone offers the most clean interface. Because of this you might think it is the best solution for AA. In my case a Pixel 6 serie (6 Pro and 6a) perform beter compared to the Galaxy S21. The best solution for AA and ACP is a simple USB cable. But sadly most of the aftermarket AA/ACP devices offer only a wireless connection. My opnion. It is not just the phone or just the AA/ACP device. It is the combination of phone, AA/ACP device, software on the phone, saved bluetooth and wifi connections and your surrounds were you ride. There are to many variables to point at. I've read more than once a Iphone is more stable for Carplay compared to Android. Because of this bought a Iphone and tested it on my bike. Wired and Wireless. Wired no a problem at all. Wireless the same amount of problems as AA. So I send the phone and got my money back.

@Nomko-Nomden offline navigation depends also on good GPS receive. Means: you don't need roaming/eSIM for Internet connection. But in long tunnels, you will loose GPS - and if there is an exit inside the tunnel, you need to take- MyRoute-App may will not navigate you!

@David-Kelly if you have solved it - fine. But please consider: if you export as gpx file out of MRA, then in the file is both, your route and a track of it (hope, you know the difference between route and track). I'm not familiar with BMW Navigator VI, but it's a branded Garmin. So, Garmins are importing your gpx file with both: the route and the track. You should be able to select, what (or both) should be visible on screen at Navigator VI. In result: the route will be calculated by Navigator VI by internal algorithm. Means could be it's not exactly the same as you planned in MRA. The track will be 100% the same. You can select in Navigator VI different colours for route line and track line, then it becomes obvious, if the calculated route will really follow the original track. There is another hint: may be, Navigator is not importing/showing route points on screen, if you have used by planning in MRA only shaping points as route points. Try to use via points (hand icon) in routes, then you will see it later on at Navigator VI too

Afwijken van de voorgestelde route (blauwe lijn) naar 12 triggert telkens een nieuwe skip naar een volgend punt waardoor ook daar weer nieuwe witte lijnen kunnen ontstaan. Belangrijk is daarom weer het juiste routepunt in te stellen, dus lang drukken op WP11 in dit voorbeeld. Een ander aspect wat mee kan doen in het "bedenken" van een andere route dan wat je gepland hebt, is dat veel planners de neiging hebben om routepunten kort bij Kruisingen, Afslagen en Rotondes (KAR) te zetten. Maar wil je die KAR bezoeken of juist de wegen daartussen? Door routepunten dicht bij KAR te zetten geef je de app meerdere mogelijkheden om daar te komen. Het is beter juist routepunten TUSSEN de KAR te plaatsen, dus juist midden op de wegdelen.
