Living in Regensburg (southern Part of Germany), I love riding allone or in groups; also sometimes with beginners. I'm not flower picking during the ride, but I drive carefully. More frequently in the direction to the Alps, than towards nordern part of Europe.

    • RE: (May 7th) You ask, we run part 1 (8:15 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. UK time)

May talk about what's the difference of Favorites and POIs to users. In may understanding, MRA does not cover all common agreed possibilities which can be used for POI. If MRA could use those fields for address, phone, category, logo/picture, URL - that will truely have benefit for us users. And it will make sense to have a private collection of POIs.

On the other side, I can't see the benefit of Favorites. They will not be transmitted to NAVI device. And compared with Way Point, they have only one field to keep a name of. Way Points have an additional field to keep a coment (Phone of Hotel, or address or URL, etc.). So, if you have made some comments in WP and make it favorite, than you will lose in that new favorite your comments of the WP.
In my understanding, faforites may simplify route planning. But with no posibility to keep some additional information like opening hours of a sight seeing point, restaurant, or bridge/tunel, etc. - it will not. And if POI will be tuned as described above - where is the difference/benefit for favorites?
So I believe, tune POI will be enough.

    • Feature Suggestion - expand POI features

In MRA, I love possibility to upload own file (gpx) of POI.
But you are not using full functionality of common agreed functions of POI. Please can you develop to use full set of possibilities of POI.

      • Unfortunately, there is only one fix Icon for all POI, given by MRA.
      • Unfortunately, there is only a Name possible for a POI - nothing more, no description, no address, no URL

In common rules for POI, there are a lot more of data fields allowed:

      • Position
      • Name
      • Description
      • Address
      • Phone
      • URL
      • Icon
      • ...

I would like to keep my Information about POI like Hotels and others in MRA as well as in Navi device. But solution by Waypoint is not sufficient because restriction of amount of WP in Navi device. Amount of POI is not restricted because of different data Format.

    • RE: Feature suggestion - Private blog for groups

I have mentioned this too, long time ago. It's essentially, to get this feature if you will have Events. Subsequently, ther is a naturally need to share common experience with all event members. But seriosly, in most cases only with team- or event members!
Not only German Law about data protection, does not allow to share private information or fotos from people without their consent form. In other words: as organizer of an event, you will not be able to share any information of the event, as long as simply one member has not giving his formal agreement. But many people are willing to share it with team or group - but not all the time with total public!

So please MRA developers, implement for event, blog posts and travel stories sharing options. We need privacy mode options: private, for friends, for Group, for event, public.

    • RE: New request for development

      @Drabslab, @Michel-van-Hagen-MRA-Founder
I fully agree with you 👍
And I know verry well, a Company needs to earn money. Also it's not an easy job, to balance, price and features of a product.
By the way, I believe the prices for MRA product are not expensive 😉

Another tip: an official roadmap with detailed next features or fixes will be highly appreciated. No matter, if sort of sequence will change from time to time (agile aproach).
If there will be a possibility, I will be happy to support developers (for free) because I believe on MRA.

      Kind regards
      Rainer

    • RE: Waypoint Stops

@Nick-Carthew thank you for the hint, I know about. But is not the solution, I'm looking for 😉
Verry often, I leave my planned route for a short side trip, then let my Navi find the way back to main route. In this case, route on paper is not helpful.

    • RE: Favorites en point of interest

...there are 2 different points of view: talking about POI in MRA and talking about POI in Navi device.
Different between Favorite and POI in MRA are well explained above: Favorite is only for your own use (kind of data base and can be used as waypoint in your routes. As far i know, it's not downloadable.

POI is also usable as waypoint for your MRA routes, but can me moved together with your route onto your Navi. So you can in your Navi also select just one of that POI as target for navigation - or the whole route as usually.

Also POI can be downloaded as GPX file, to have a Backup, to load onto your Navi or to share with others. This GPX file then will contain only those waypoints, but no route.
If your collection of POI contains for example 10.000 items (may all McDonalds Restaurants) many of Navi devices can't accept the file with more than 50 or 100 POI=waypoints. The trick is, to use website "gpsbabel" to transform this POI GPX file to the file format GPI. In such a format, Garmin Navi will accept also more than 10.000 POI in the file.

    • RE: Moving waypoints

      @Kevin-Russell said in Moving waypoints:

... just reverse the whole route?

As Gold-Member, you may open a route, select "toolkit" in menue and then select "Google maps", or "HERE maps". Then open menue again, select "toolkit" and then "reverse". Result is a down to top arder of waypoints.

Good Idea, to copy at first your original route and do the change in the copy. After doing reverse action, check exact position of WP by zooming in. If route is at multi track street (Highway), may move WP to correct side of tracks. At least, compare distance of original with reverse route.

    • RE: Track route what does it mean

Difference between Route and Track are explained good enough by others.
But one more point ist important:
By a Route, your Nav-Device can calculate a way towards next waypoint and will guide you by Icons at Screen, and by speech (sound).
But this can happen only at bigger (paved) roads. At offroads, usually Nav-Device can't calculate. In some rare cases - if you use an additional installed Topographic Map - calculation and guidance can happen too.

Vice versa a Route-Track ist similar to a Track (= drawn dots, where you have been on road), but is line/path of pre calculated dots. Usually your Nav-Device isn't able to calculate and guide you by this.
But the advantage ist at offroads: you can use additional installed Topographic Maps with small unpaved pathes. At screen of your Nav-Device, the Route-Track ist presented as coloured overlay.
If you are driving at the small road/path, you can observe the screen and can see, if you are still driving on the right road.

    • RE: Garmin Zumo 396

@Ronald-Weaver I can understan your pain. I have same experience comming from using MRA -> GARMIN Zumo 210 to MRA -> GARMIN 396!

      • with Zumo 210, it was so easy to transmit a route from MRA to SatNav Device
      • with GARMIN 396, MRA is sending track and route both (may this is based on GPX 1.1). Therefore, you need to learn, how many WP you should have in your route, to force the SatNav onto the same (Garmin 396 will always recalculate after import!).
      • if you see only direkt route lines after transmit a route to SatNav, please udate general settings in SatNav to use shortest, or quickest and not direct line (Airplane).
      • but my biggest pain is: also if I have used shaping points and via points in MRA, after transmission to GARMIN 396, there are only shaping ponits in SatNav Device! Means if you start the route, you will have only information on screen about starting point and end point - nothing between.
If you want to know, how far ist remaining distance to WP (via point, may fuel station) SatNav can't tell you.
      • if you want to keep your via point of MRA, you need to change each point after transmit in SatNav. If you open the route in App route planning in SatNav, at first you can see all WP, click (tip) on the icon of an WP, this will change it to the other type. Tip again will change type back.
With type via point, SatNav will tell you ongoing time and distanye to it on screen and will inform you if you have reachd it.

@Hans-van-de-Ven-MRA-Master Not everybody is familiar to drive with track overlay on screen at SatNav. Per example, I was always happy to be informed by speech, in stressfull road situations.

But last month, we drove offroad in Italy and no SatNav device in our group knowed those streets (but MRA with those different maps knowed). So, there was no other option to use topographic maps in SatNav - and the track of our route (MRA has also transmitted) as overlay on screen to be able to detect: yes, we are on the correct road.
Still navigation support with signals or speech; "in 50 meters, turn right" isn't possible with topographic maps.

Final suggestion: could developers please check, why MRA isn't sending shaping points and via points correctly to GARMIN396.

      @Drabslab
This kind of roadbook (prayer book) is originally used for car rallye sport (by Co driver). For Motorbike it had to be transformed from book to that systen, because there is no Co driver who is able to read an to tell (pray) to the driver.

Modern devices may no longer use paper, but may be electronic. Still used for long distance rallyes like Dakar Rallye.

    • RE: What navigation hardware are you using?

      Hardware:
Garmin Zumo 396 - used on bike as well in car; for hiking it's not possible because of small battery which is not changable. Second disadvantage is screen, which has low contrast.
But great advantage is receive of GPS signal also in difficult areas. I was never ever disappointed! And complete range of data in tracka like position, time, speed, distance in time and Km, hight.
Different maps are usable like proprietary cards from GARMIN as well as Open Street Map or topo cards. And it's shock resistent (important for biking) and waterproof.

      Main use:
Navigation along pre planned routes. Searching for fuel stations. Sometimes sponateous routing from A to B. Never using such dubious gimmicks like round trip or extra curvy routes.

      Software:
MRA Routeplanner, because it's mire than a routplanner which I really appreciate
Garmin BaseCamp, used before MRA Routplanner but has still some advantages for route planning in front of MRA Routplanner
MRA Navigation, to compare with real SatNav like Garmin. But it's dissapointing in many cases: information during navigation, poore data in tracks, often loosing GPS signal (mostly based on Hardware of Smartphone). In consequence: impossibility to use track from SatNav for events and others!
MRA Video, I'm nsure if I will use it, because it's too playfulnand lengthy and can only process 10 fotos!
Kurviger, for hiking, because MRA Routplanner or MRA Navigation is using during tracking only HEERE maps. But those maps doesn't contain pathes whitch hikers are using😠

      Advantages:
As wrote in some words above. Most important advantage of MRA is: it's more than a route planning SW. It's a wonderfull community platfom to share routes, tracks, travel stories and offer events. And usable with any kind of device (PC, Android, iPhone, Tablet)
Routes can be compared with TomTom and Garmin on the fly. Routes can be transformed and downloaded in other formats. Transmission to SatNavs is easy.

      Drawbacks:
Restriction of using track files from own SatNav for events and travel stories!! Poor data in tracks. Non visible data of tracks (only coloured line as layer in map). Not selectable maps during tracking. Track from pedestrian are not only needed for archiving. More important is to know during walking, where I am - but without topo map, it can't be visible.

      Future:
Hope, to get quickly best features from Tyre as well as from BaseCamp, Relive and Route Generator combined in MRA. More freedom for users, what to see on screen (which tools, icons, dates etc.).

If I'm right, then MRA Video produces only a kind of dynamic 3D views of the track log on a map ( like Google Earth) combined with a kind of slide show of existing Fotos (moments) You Made in track log.
