I live on the coast of North Devon between Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks. This is a beautiful part of the UK and I and my wife Hannah have many places to ride our motorcycles.
We love touring on our motorcycles and use both MRA Navigation and a TomTom Rider 500 for Navigating.
I am a mentor within the MyRoute-app RouteXpert framework and can help out with most of your queries regarding route planning.

Hello. My name is Nick Carthew, I'm 59 years young (2019) and I live in a 350 year old cottage on the coast of North Devon between Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks. Our last house was built in the 15c so by our standards, this one is relatively modern!
This is a beautiful part of the UK and my wife Hannah and I are lucky to have many places on our doorstep to ride our motorcycles.
We love touring on our motorcycles and use MyRoute-app Navigation and a TomTom Rider 500 for Navigating.
The routes that I make are not full of fast twisty bends, although if there are some, it's a bonus👍 😁
I like to design routes through beautiful scenery on smaller less used roads, this way you get to see the real country that you may be travelling in. We also love history and will always include an historic site or two on our tours, this could be anything from the very thought provoking D Day landings to a stone age megalithic site and everything in between.

I am a mentor within the MyRoute-app RouteXpert framework and can help out with most of your queries regarding route planning. I am also quite knowledgeable with Tomtom Rider gps and as my signature says: "Always willing to help if I can".

    • Route segments.

For those that do not see Facebook.

We are busy with our new projects, including enabling segments in the route! Currently only the graphics part is implemented. You will soon be able to split your route into segments to indicate preferences for certain parts of the ride. Do you want to avoid the highway from route point 5 to 10? No problem! This can then be indicated with segments. More coming soon..!

    • Locking routes.

      BREAKING NEWS

MyRoute-app news: Lock waypoints for routes

Over the past couple of years, we have received great feedback and suggestions from our MyRoute-app community. One of the most suggested features has been the ability to lock waypoints. We can now present our newest feature that enables just that.

By locking in your waypoints for a route, you will no longer have any accidental: placements/edits/deletion of your waypoints. We’ve ensured that the locking of waypoints can be enabled and disabled at any time, meaning that you can lock and unlock waypoints on the fly!

There are 2 ways that you can lock/unlock your waypoints. The first being possible inside of your route list (on your MRA-profile). There will now be a new lock icon, located on the right of each route inside of your route list. By clicking on this lock-icon, you will disable editing of waypoints for that specific route. As stated previously, you can easily disable the waypoints lock by clicking on the unlock-icon.

It is also possible to lock waypoints while using the route editor. You will now be able to see a new lock icon on the left of your screen, while editing your route. By clicking on this lock icon, all waypoint editing will be disabled. You can also easily unlock the waypoints of your route, by clicking on the unlock icon.

      Well done MRA 👏

We are particularly interested in routes in the red zones if you have any to share and would like to see in the MRA RX Library.

    • RE: What does adding friends do?

Hi @mattatron. Your friends that have accepted your invite will appear on the left side of the route editor. And as well as what Hans said above about receiving track notifications from friends, you can choose to set route privacy to friends allowing only you and your friends to see certain routes. You sent me a friend request which I have just accepted, I noticed that you don't have any About Me information on your profile. It's always nice to read a little about other members, why not add a few lines about what sort of riding you enjoy. Add where you live too, not your address, but just the basic region, this can lead to meeting up with others in your area or who share your interests. By the way, I've just left a comment on your South East Coast route to Whitstable track 😇

    • My beloved Kay

      2006 Honda XL1000 Varadero SD02 - She's called Kay (K for kilo = 1000)

      Sandyway 1.jpg
High up on Exmoor Dec 2018

I started my affair with Kay in November 2013. It truly was love at first sight.
I wanted something big that had presence on the road and the Varadero certainly fits that description. I started looking and discovered that Honda only made the tri-colour in 2006 and the moment I saw a picture of one I knew it was the next bike for me.
I saw one for sale on a motorcycle dealerships website just 60 miles away and the following day, Kay and I were a couple 👫.
Kay had just 14,000 miles on the clock and had had 4 previous owners despite her being only 8 years old 🤔 It was clear by some of the knocks and scrapes on her that she hadn't seen much love 🙁
It also amazes me that 4 other people had bought a big touring machine and none of them seemed to have ridden her for very many miles! Perhaps it’s her weight or sheer size that put them off. She left the factory at a little under 250kg and like most of us, she has gained a little weight over the years with the compulsory added on bling! I would guess she’s over 300kg now!

As well as the 3 piece Honda Luggage, the extras I have added are:
      MRA Vario Touring screen
      Palmer Products screen bracket
      Honda heated grips
      Givi Engine bars
      Marselus engine bar bags
      LED daytime running lights
LED headlight and tail light bulbs
      Honda centre stand
      60mm handlebar risers
      Hand guards
Rokk Charge+. Twin waterproof usb socket
      Scottoiler with touring reservoir
Power Commander and new ECU re-map
Bagster tank cover and tank bag
      Pyramid hugger and fender extender
      GiPro gear indicator
      Denali Sound Bomb horns
Marselus big foot side stand extender
On top of these extras I have upgraded the rear shock and fork springs (progressive) to Hagon.

I change her oil and filter every 4000 miles and I get my local garage to service her 👨‍🔧 at every 8000 miles, on time every time. It's a job I could do myself but I prefer to have some professional eyes look over her, + I get a stamp in my service book. We have traveled 50,000 miles together, far and wide 🗺 and she has never let me down so I guess I'm doing the correct thing.

This May we traveled 4,500 miles on a tour through Europe which we called #ElGrande (link to our routes), we had snow in the Picos de Europa and Pyrenees at 2001 meters above sea level and 39°c heat in Andalucia and Kay took it all in her stride, never missing a beat.

Leading the pack - it's what Kay does best.Gorges du Tarn May 2019

Some people like to come home, put their slippers on and sit in the comfy chair, there is nowhere that I feel more comfortable than when I'm sitting on Kay and heading on a tour somewhere.

    • RE: The Dingle Peninsula route

@Garry-Davis Be sure to use the ‘compare with TomTom tool’ if you share to TomTom users.
With the compare tool on, if there are any discrepancies, you’ll see a red line, this is TomTom’s interpretation of the route. Add additional route points to force the TT to follow the same route.

@tom-cat said in New MRA Mobile Update 3.1.0!:

I thought the new MRA Mobile app was to replace the older MRA Navigation app? I have been a lifetime subscriber for a very long time and this is starting to get confusing. I was about to delete the old MRA Navigation app from my phone and rely only on the new MRA Mobile app. Up until this year I used a TomTom Rider but wanted to leave a device home and planned on moving over to the new mobile app. Is that not the case? So confused here.

The MRA Mobile app is just an update of the old MRA Mobile app. It does not replace MRA Navigation.

    • RE: Settings menu

@iain-cochrane-0 Unfortunately, TomTom will only show you the route points when you use an .itn file. You can of course add the POIs to your device by saving the .ov2 files. All of the information contained in the route point notes along with the colours used can be seen when using MRA Navigation. You could save and print a .pdf of the route for your tank bag as this contains the info too.

    • RE: New MRA Mobile Update 3.1.0!

@doug-robinson MRA Mobile is a free app that’s primarily used for tracking and taking photos along the way. You can also plan routes and navigate using a simple follow the line system. It will also connect to your route library and allow you to edit your routes and them send them to your navigation device.
It is by no means a replacement for MRA Navigation.

    • For those that don’t receive emails from MRA

      Every disadvantage has its advantage…

The people who follow us know that we are a relatively small company with a passion for travel and technology. Sometimes we are so excited and want to put something down so quickly that we don't prepare a new release well enough. That (unfortunately) also happened on May 27, 2022 with the release of MyRoute-app Mobile 3.0, so you can see that as a disadvantage...

But, the big advantage is that we can take action quickly, no layers of management, no decision protocols and procedures. Just listen to the community, grit your teeth and keep working.

That is exactly what we have done in recent weeks and that is why we now proudly and confidently present:
      MyRoute-app Mobile 3.1.0!

      This new version includes:

      ✅ Save routes offline
✅ Send routes to Garmin Drive and BMW Connected
✅ Generate and drive winding routes A to B by following the route line

Quickly click on the button below to discover the renewed FREE MyRoute-app Mobile!

    • Seasonal roads are off for OpenStreetMap

New update performed for OpenStreetMap (OSM)!

In recent weeks we have received more and more reports that certain routes no longer work in the OSM map. For this we have looked at the problem and found the solution.

The seasonal roads closures are now turned off for the OSM map. This means that it is again possible to plan routes anytime, anywhere.
