@Brian-McG Thank you for your reply. Clunky interfaces are not a big problem. Functionality is more important, and I tried Osmand some time ago. Didn't know it has this functionality.

During a 4 day tour I observed the navigation behaviour of MRA, in particular the new option to keep the map 'North-Up'. That functions fine.

However I believe to have noticed that the zoom level keeps going back to a deep 'zoomed-in' map scale, something like 1 : 15000. The zoom level does not keep the selected level as set using 'pinching on the map' or +/- buttons.

The font of the turn-distance indication (see below pic) is too small for convenient reading at a glance under driving condition.

I liked the way how RMA picks up the route again after deviating from it and the option to keep the original route visible on the map.

It seems that a route cannot initially be calculated without internet connection, as also indicated by pop-up messages. Once calculated navigation works with the installed local map and local route data.

However a few times the navigation went wrong (cannot calculate the route and once the position indicated on map remained some 500 meters lagging the real position). I don't know if turn indications also came too late. Restoring internet connection for a moment solved such problems.
On days with permanent internet connected there were no issues and data consumption was between 75 MB and 150 MB per day.

All together RMA left a positive impression with me and probably I will use it more often to get better knowledge about it.

Your information about 'by design' I don't really understand yet.
What are the advantages of it ?

@Rob-Verhoeff, klopt, maar de ondersteuning is voor zover mij bekend altijd op beide platformen. Is ook commercieel niet interessant om maar één van beide te ondersteunen lijkt me.

@Naessens, Momenteel zie je het meest de merken Elebest en Carpuride. Zou je ook de toepassing van een rugged phone overwegen? Waarom wil je persé Android Auto op je motor, en niet gewoon Native Android?

@Rob-z, die balk aan de rechterkant heb je in Next niet. Wel staat er een infobox met het dichtstbijzijnde tankstation dat logisch op de route zit. Waarschuwingen voor files en ongelukken zijn er niet. Wel kun je op de kaart zien waar het druk is of file staat (als je online navigeert). Er worden (momenteel) géén suggesties gegeven voor snellere routes, maar het berekenen van een route wordt er wel gerekend met de verkeers (en dus file) informatie. Persoonlijk zet ik liever flitsmeister aan op de achtergrond (ik navigeer met een rugged telefoon, dan heb je wat meer vrijheid wat dat betreft).

Wat er precies wel en niet in AA/CP zit kan ik je niet mee helpen, ik gebruik dat niet.

That's incorrect. The announcement takes place 750mtrs for shapingpoints and 2000mtrs for viapoints. An exception is made if there is an upcoming waypoint preceding the one with the announcement. In that case the announcement is spoken when the preceding waypoint is passed. This way you are able to shorten the distance to the announcement.

Android Go is not an Custom Rom. It is indeed meant for slow hardware. And created for the less developed markets. Android Go is meant for special Android GO apps.
These run on lighter hardware and if i'm correct relie more on "cloud hardware" to support the slow hardware in the phone.

To run MRA on Android GO. MRA must make a special version for Android GO.

@Guido-K-1, if you are using the right view, the app will zoom in and out based on speed and distance to the next instruction. In the menu settings - map layer, you will find an option called "automatic zoom correction"

This one enlarges the level of zoom in and out for speed, for instructions or for both.

@GT-JWR, not sure either. Probably @Corjan-Meijerink has already introduced new icons in preparation of the new syncing mechanism? 😉
