@Corjan-Meijerink we use the BMW WonderWheel with MotoMedia Link (similar to WunderLinq), Tasker and AutoInput to control Next (zoom, skip waypoints, record tracks, stop navigating, etc). @b0hd1 and me are developing this.
It would be incredible if we could have access to the api vía intents that everybody could use, for example, with Tasker -
@bluetuz yes we know! Been in contact with @b0hd1 before. Feel free to reach out on corjan@myrouteapp.com

@Corjan-Meijerink Would these developments be able to be implemented in iOS as most are currently Android centric I think?

Hi @Dave-J-0 I don’t agree with making changes to the app just to make it easier to use while on the move.
As you know, in the UK and it’s probably the same in the EU, it's illegal to hold and use a phone, sat nav, tablet, or any device that can send or receive data, while driving or riding a motorcycle.Yes, make it as glove friendly as possible. But I think the app should be optimised to be the very best that it can be without the possible restrictions that could be imposed just to make it easier to use while on the move.
You are not ‘holding’ the phone. The phone is mounted on a cradle. Touching a phone, which is mounted on a cradle is not illegal.
This from the Government’s website:
Using Using devices hands-free
It’s illegal to hold and use a phone, sat nav, tablet, or any device that can send or receive data, while driving or riding a motorcycle.
This means you must not use a device in your hand for any reason, whether online or offline.
The important words are: hold and in your hand.
The same Government instructions, go on to say:
Using devices hands-free
You can use devices with hands-free access, as long as you do not hold them at any time during usage. Hands-free access means using, for example:
a Bluetooth headset
voice command
a dashboard holder or mat
a windscreen mount
a built-in sat nav
The device must not block your view of the road and traffic ahead.A phone in a cradle on a motorbike is the equivalent of either a windscreen mount and/ or a dashboard holder or mat in a car.
Whether or not a rider of a motorcycle (or indeed a driver of a car) should tap away at either a cradle mounted phone or a cradle mounted GPS device (all whilst retaining control of the vehicle) is another matter entirely. That is down to personal choice, nothing more.
https://www.gov.uk/using-mobile-phones-when-driving-the-law
Umpteen Garmin / TomTom GPS units (along with even more phone screen based app’s) allow finger touch alteration of what is displayed on the screen, whilst on the move. These, when mounted as described above, are perfectly legal.
If and when the law is ever changed and it becomes illegal to do so, the manufacturers will be required to patch the software to lock the screen whilst its motion detectors detect movement. Of course this is going to be tricky to implement if the phone is being used by someone riding on say a train or by the passenger in a car, both of whom can hold and operate their phone quite legally.

One example is barbuttons, we met last week with their person - https://jaxeadv.com/barbuttons/
Nice one! I ordered the DIY version to see if it's a sensible 3D print project for me.

@Con-Hennekens Enjoy!

I like the centre/show route button with Carplay. Could we have this for the app?
Apologies for dusty car dash ! -
@David-Bonner it’s also in the app! Open the menu and click “show route” or long press the compass icon

@Corjan-Meijerink Thanks Corjan, that’s a nice feature, which I had not spotted before!
