The compas direction on the elevation circle is wrong

Well.... it should ! But..... look at this pictures. I am standing in the same spot facing due South. My Pap is oriented North.

When one navigates with the app one sees the altitude with a compass indication around the circle. These red segment
indicators should show the direction that one is traveling In fact the indicator correctly indicates north and south but east and west is backwards. While traveling east the red bar indicator shows west. In other words with I travel west the red indicator should be on the left. That is not the case now. I am using an iPhone 14 pro max with revision 5.2.0 - 473. -

I guess I needed a mental adjustment to understand that the red segment just says where the North is in relation to the direction I am traveling (to my nose... )
That said, please confirm that the following pictures show the expected behavior of the Red segment. My map is oriented NORTH, so you can easily see in which direction I am moving. Thank you!

@Marinus-van-Deudekom The behavior of the Red segment is the same in every mode. I just verrified it on a ride this morning. In the Dynamic mode the Blue Arrow in the bottom right acts as a compass too, and it coinsides with the Red segment behavior.

I think in north-up map orientation, the red segment should simply disappear, as it is not useful

@Corjan-Meijerink apologies I think I now see your logic about your physical orientation & the direction of the altitude pointer, although for me it took some mental gymnastics to get there
the way I think it is working is you have to discount everything else in the MRA display & treat the altitude pointer compass as a separate device, like imagining an old fashioned compass sitting on the fuel cap of your bike
if I am riding heading east, then north is on my left shoulder & the altitude pointer compass wil point to the left of my phone screen
if I am riding heading west, then north is on my right shoulder & the altitude pointer compass will point to the right of my phone screenagain apologies but for me it was just not an intuitive bit of UI

I also had a hard time with this....
I guess the simplest way to grasp the Red segment position in relation to your movement is to imagine yourself sitting inside the elevation circle heading in the 12 o'clock direction. -
It’s completely correct! Has no relation with the map. Indeed like an actual compass strapped om your screen.
It makes sense but in north up it’s confusing.
Pinning it north or hiding it will make most sense I guess. -

Not every new design will be everyone’s favorite right away, but progress sometimes means moving on from older concepts ðŸ§In another topic, I already mentioned that I’m not a fan of the current display. You now have to constantly think about which direction you’re heading, whereas it should be something you can understand at a glance.
