Route name changes when transferred to Garmin

Previously had this issue with my Nav V and also on my new Garmin XT2. I've built up a huge number of routes over the years (some mine/some others I've used from the web and modified to suit etc). When exporting (either individually or a large file transfer some route names change when they appear on the device (or Tread app as I'm now using) I can go in and change it on that app but that takes a huge amount of time. As I said it's not every route - is there something embedded that the navigator picks up?
Naming convention as follows:- 001 Oban to Glencoe and Crieff loop (289m-7hr) I might get SD Oban to Glencoe and Crieff and that's it. Others will not have SD at the start etc.
Any ideas on how to fix as I need to transfer many files to my new device and I'm not wanting to rename multiple different routes manually.Thanks,

Could it be that you are using certain characters in your file which afren't recognized by your navigation device?I do know that Windows has a somehow a limitation of 255 characters in file names. And it doesn't accept some rarely used characters in a file name.
I have the experience that Windows cuts off file names when it is too long or it has some characters in the file name.
Not sure though if this will help you.

The older Garmin GPS devices only show 13 characters as a name.
The newer one I think is 26, but you can test that by making a name with numbers (1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13-14-15- 16-17-18-19-20-21-22-23-24-25-26-27-28-29-30)
I know there are 59 of them, so you can clearly see where the name is broken off. -

@Andrew-Dickerson, Do I understand correctly that your routename starts with a "-" (hyphen)? That could well be the culprit.

Garmin XT2 - 36 characters max.
Have removed (, &, ) from any names
Naming protocol simplified, example below;
009 Powmill-Crieff-Dunblane 115m-4hr
Downloaded GPX1.1 in route format.
All my routes have 100 soft waypointsNow works perfectly!
