No option for twistie routes when using offline MRA
-
I've been using the MRA next for quite some time now, and i would really love to see the option to select a more twistie A to B route when using the offline version.
This is possible whilst being online, but for offline you can only choose 3 different routes and if you want to avoid highways or not. Will this be implemented in the future or not?

@L-Spijker-0, that behaviour is due to the twisty routes being generated on the OSM map, and then transferred to navigation (Here map) as a track. Track navigation in the HERE platform can only be done online. So multiple platform limitations are in place. I am sure when the feature becomes available, MRA devs will explore them for embedding in the MRA app. But I don't think any ETA can be promised.

@Con-Hennekens thanks for the explaination, didn't have the time to dive in this deep recently.
I hope so too, would be nice to do everything offline whilst travelling. Guess its just a waiting game for now
Do you know if it will work if you generate a hotspot just for the route calculations and switch to offline (by turning off the hotspot) once the route is generated? If you dont deviate from the route that is ofcourse.

@L-Spijker-0, Yes in my view that will work, but I have never tried. I usually drive pre-planned routes. The track will be cached. A problem will occur if you deviate indeed.
Let me assure you that online navigation data traffic is REALLY low, when you have offline maps, and traffic information disabled. I have no problem navigating with open internet connection whatsoever.

@Con-Hennekens i will try that as work around, if it doesnt work I'll just use Osmand (since i need that for offroad anyway) untill its present in MRA.
I agree, noticed that aswell, and im not too worried about the data useage. Its mainly that i dont want my main phone to run out of battery quickly, which it does when keeping an hotspot active all the time.
Anyway, thanks for the help and explaination.

@L-Spijker-0, Some providers offer a clone SIM card. I have one in my CAT from Vodafone. I can just put my Pixel in flightmode and take the CAT out of flightmode and it just uses the same cell subscription. Maybe something for you to explore?
