Cardo Packtalk and Next
-
I've recently started to use MRA as navigator and despite me still not up to speed with the app, I'm quite happy with the overall performance/usability.
For Next to be the final navigation solution on my motorbike, I need to understand/fix an issue with my Cardo Packtalk unit.
My setup is that my Cardo is connected through BT to my iPhone (as phone) and also connected to an android phone where I do have Next installed, using the GPS channel. That android gps is also linked to my motorbike (BMW) so I can also pickup/collect ride data.
Las week I went for a ride and I was trying to talk to my passenger who also had a Cardo unit (Freecom2), connected through bluetooth to my primary cardo device. And I was not able to do an intercom to intercom call, cardo devices kept telling "Not available", so it was really frustrating.
This setup has worked really well when using BMW Connected, Calimoto or even with OSMAnd apps, where I've been able to do intercom to intercom calls.
The only way I was able to make it work was force closing MRA app. So somehow MRA is keeping the BT sound channel open, blocking any other communication.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue? Any idea on how to solve this annoying issue?

@AlexNG I use a Samsung Andriod phone running MRA connected to the phone port on a Packtalk Bold. Works fine except that the intercom overrides the phone so some voice prompts may get missed. I suggest you contact Cardo about your problem.

hi, i use an oukitel RT3 rugged tablet for my MRA navigation.
i too have a cardo (NEO) i have my iPhone as primary phone on channel one and the RT3 on channel two, but i have it as a second phone.i tried it using the other two modes, such as GPS and TFT bike connect, but this did not work too well.
perhaps worth a try to set up your second phone as a second phone, it is not a GPS device such as Zumo XT or tom tom rider.not saying this will work but sometimes the headsets are a nightmare to set up and pair, i lost count how many times i actually set and reset my headset with the pillion, in order to share music.

Thanks for the suggestion @paul69 , I’ll give it try… Still convinced problem is how Next manages connections, as my setup works well with other apps.

Perhaps the problem is because you have linked 2 different phones, because I understand from your text that you have linked an Apple iPhone and an Android phone.
I also have both, but I only linked it to the Android because this phone is easier to operate on the road than an iPhone. I make the connection super easy with the Card Connect app, some activate the intercom by pressing the pack talk, I find it more convenient to do this on the phone that I have positioned in such a way that I can easily access it while driving.

On a Cardo two bluetooth channels can be used simultaneous.
Besides the intercom there are two other channels you can use for other bluetooth devices. This makes a total of 3 bluetooth connections while only 2 can be used simultaneous.
Perhaps this a cause op the problem.I'm pretty conviced MRA is not the problem. Because MRA has not to do with bluetooth connections. Android or IOS manages this.
