@Jaap-Marchal
My experience is that also GPs devices can get steaming hot behind a motorcycle screen. The screen of my TomTom rider fell of one day under a baking south france sun. Since then, it is taped to the GPS and that looks very "rugged"
So, when choosing an alternative (a smartphone), be careful. When it breaks down "somewhere" in the middle of a carefully planned summer holiday, it could ruin part of that holiday.
I currently experiment with Next using my "normal" Samsung A32 in the car and on shorter motorcycle trips. For long holidays I maintain the TomTom and use Next as backup.
When the Samsung is end of life, I will replace it with a rugged phone, rumours are that the CAT S53 or S75 are very solid, or the Nokia XR20 5G.
Problems with rugged phones are that some of time trade in performance for ruggedness.
When the MRA ecosystem keeps improving, rugged phones or tablets may become the only option as TomTom as well as Garmin most likely have no interest updating their products to be able to use the more advanced features of MRA (e.g. entering a POI during a holiday and immediately find it back in your routeplanner).
For that reason, and for the continued growth of MRA, the company may want to venture more into the world of hardware. That does not mean that they should start building hardware, but providing a short list of "tested to the bone" navigation solutions around a specific piece of hardware could help people take the plunge away from dedicated NAV systems and into the MRA world.
The product shown by Jack seems a good option for such test.

With the current attention for Barbuttons and Wunderlinq, maybe this has already started?
