Minimising last minute changes to the route due to last minute road closures
-
Having planned a route on the PC using MRA Planner and plotted around any known traffic/seasonal closures weeks beforehand. Come the day of the ride is there an easy way of checking on the Navigation Next App if there is going to be any last minute closures that may have impact on the route?
I was impacted by a recent example of this when I set off on the route I suddenly came across an unknown road closure that wasn't shown on the route and it resulted in having to do a significant detour which I have to re-plan on the fly.
If there isn't an easy way maybe a suggestion is a warning in the app that the
- Traffic status has been checked
- Traffic warning impacting the route.
By the way, I have settings 'Traffic aware route calculation' and 'Check for route violations' both set to 'ON' in the app.
Not sure why in my example why the road closure wasn't picked up, it may be that not all closures are added to the route or there is a delay in them appearing? it would be interesting to know how the traffic dataflow ends up on the map? and is it something that I'm not doing that could have been the reason behind the omission?

@davidrudgley-net Before riding a route, I always import the gpx file (exported from MRA) into the TomTom Planner (https://plan.tomtom.com/en). For me, quality and visibility of road blocks are much better.

@davidrudgley-net Hi David
things happen is why.
The road closures that are known at Here are displayed in the app and webversion. But Here depends on the info they're getting from the road owner. No info nothing to display in the app and the web.
It's a fact that while driving a beautifull route sometimes you come across unknown road closures. As in your case the closure wassn't reported to Here the main computer on your bike (you) must find a way to get past the closure. Sometimes that's fun to but most of the time just a pain in the ......
Don't let it spoil your day and enjoy the ride. -
Folks reading this may find the experience I had today with a road closure interesting:
https://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/8254/burnt-today-by-the-here-map-engine?_=1729800423030
The closure I ran into today has apparently been in effect for at least 11 days. Google Maps apparently knows about it, so why doesn't HERE? In my opinion, whatever method HERE has for obtaining information about road closures is inadequate. If nothing else, they could presumably buy the data from Google - Google seems to sell everything else . And I would happily pay MRA more if doing so would solve the "oops we didn't tell you about this road closure" problem.
(I'm glad this happened to me while I was in the car with comfortable seats and air conditioning. Figuring out what was going on and what my options were would have been much more difficult from a motorcycle saddle!)
