Yesterday I used MRA on the motorcycle all day and the battery in the wireless Quad-lock charger was not below 80%.
How What or Why I have no idea.
But this does bring back the confidence that things will turn out okay

@GT-JWR the temperature was between 17 and 23 degrees, perfect for driving, except for the rain shower 🌦

@Erik-35 haha...yea rain can mess it up! For me, the battery issue, while still present, does not have any issues at that ambient temp - 25degC and is very much complicated/comprimised by the heat generated while having to constantly charge the phone (wired charge), causiing excessive heat issues to the point where the phone goes into protect mode, and the screen dims to an undistinguishable level and the only option then, is to shut the app down, and go back to Google, Apple or Scenic - not ideal, but currently, the only workaround.

I also continue to have problems with phone temperature which I suspect is related to battery consumption. I use CarPlay via a usb wired connection and keep the phone in the armrest. I probably get about 2 hours of usage after which time the phone shuts down due to the temperature. So the app remains unusable for me for most trips.

@Simon-Ferrari do you keep the phone in a closed armrest. Do you continue running MRA while using CarPlay.
                  What I do
Let Android Auto connect to my phone.
Use the car screen to choose a route and navigate.
The phone's screen is off. I charge the phone wired but not in the armrest so it can get fresh air. The phone will get charged and doesn't het overheated.
Try this and see the results

DMD2 T865X 8 inch Android tablet using MRA next for navigation
Garmin XT (almost in the cupboard)
Samsung S20FE mounted on a Quadlock and using Android Auto in my car

@Marinus-van-Deudekom The phone's screen is off and it is in a closed armrest but I don't want to, or feel I should need to, give up the convenience of having the phone out of the way and easily connected to a charging point. The other navigation apps don't require this and MRA is not good enough to cause me to want to investigate other option.

@Simon-Ferrari Maybe you can try it out of the arm rest to see if thats the problem

@Marinus-van-Deudekom not sure why people continue to try to say it is not an issue - it obviously is, has been acknowledged by the MRA Team, to which is always pointed to a HERE issue. If your fortunate to live in a cooler climate, great - no issues! If not, it is a continual issue/problem and makes using the app impossible. As @Simon-Ferrari says, other navigation apps do not have that issue (specifcally, Google Maps and Apple Maps)

And just because the issue belongs to HERE, it does not give MRA a free pass - the issue occurs with the MRA app. You don't take your vehicle to the manufacturer when it has an issue, you take it to the dealer - and in this instance, MRA is the dealer. I know they are working on it, just wish they were having more success.

@GT-JWR I do know the cause of problem just saying a work around while waiting for the final solution.

No matter which navigation app you use. All navigation apps will generate much heat. So putting your phone away in a closed cabin is never the best option. Air circulation for cooling is always a good idea

That said. There is indeed a lot of difference how many heat is generated by the difference apps. Sadly MRA is at the top of the list.
Keeping the screen off will help to keep the temperature down a few degrees. But the app must have procedures programmed to keep the screen off. MRA misses good procedures to keep the screen off.

(I use MRA Next only on Android Auto. Every comment, suggestion, etc will be based on my usage with Android Auto)

                                Hi Corjan,
                                My phone: Samsung S22 Ultra
My settings in MRA Next: Driving modus: Motocycle
I have downloaded the Dutch maps in case I need to switch to offline mode.
The phone is connected via USB-C and when I drive routes with MRA Next the battery still drains and the percentage of power drops gradualy . When I stop using MRA Next and I switch over to Google Maps the battery percentage starts to increase again.
                                What is your advice ?

Same problem with my android pixel 8, and this really annoying...

My Pixel 8 (pro) does keep up with charging while using the MRA app. Drain is high, but on cheap cable and cheap USB charger it is still gaining charge (slowly).

I am just an enthusiastic user, and hope you will be one too!

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebar to the saddle.

My Pixel 6 (pro) keeps up with charging too -- until it gets so hot that it shuts down. I can run without a charger until I run out of battery or I can run with it on the charger until the phone shuts itself down. And this is with Android Autio so I have the phone screen shut off. In another thread, @Corjan-Meijerink commented that HERE is actively working on the issue, which is great news.

I was out again today using Android Auto and this time I completed my route without the phone overheating. It was just a degree or two F cooler than last time when my phone shut down.

But this time, I changed the USB charging port I was using to one that was limited to 2 amps instead of using a fast-charging port. Along with keeping the phone display off, this was enough to keep my Pixel 6 Pro charged - in fact, it actually gained a little charge during the trip. The phone was still warm, but not nearly as hot as it was when I used the fast-charging port.

So, one suggestion for fellow riders who are having an overheating issue is to avoid using a fast-charging port. Kind of obvious, I know, but it did not occur to me before today.
