I thought I didn't understand it well because I speak Dutch and had this sentence translated by my friends from Google.

Hoe meer (nuttige) functies die de planning en navigatie verbeteren, die niet kunnen worden geΓ«xporteerd naar bijvoorbeeld Garmin of TomTom, hoe beter

Did you forget to put forty-two smileys behind this?

Maybe 42 smileys is a bit much but I am convinced that integration of planning and navigation is the Killer combination.

Until now, MRA has for planning been restricted by the need to transfer routes to external GPS Devices and for instance: a spoken text connected to a waypoint was in this case likely not an option.

Combining navigation and planning on a single platform could open a world of possibilities whereby planning enriches the navigation experience far beyond what the GPX standard implementations on Garmin or TomTom can handle.

But I read anyway; the more (useful) features and improvements that cannot be used by TomTom and Garmin users the better.
Or is there a translation problem and should I look for a new babelfish?

@Jack-van-Tilburg I think your translation is working perfectly and I agree with @Drabslab - The more unique features that MRA can introduce only for MRA users, the better it will be for the company.

I'll have to think about that some more.
The first question that comes to my mind is what will happen in the future with the improved Planner functions for users who do not use MRA Navigation. Because you both really say that "they cannot be exported (used) by TomTom and Garmin". And apparently you support that too

It is intended as "the more features and improvements that cannot be used by <fill in your preference of oldskool GPS unit>, the more of those users will turn to MRA Navigation" (and that's good, isn't it?) πŸ˜‰

Recently, the Routeplanner got support for new pause icons. This version of the app now also supports all these new icons!

Developing new features that improve both the planner and the navigator, and that cannot be achieved by other platforms where planner and GPS device/soft are not integrated, will make MRA the ultimate champion of navigation.

Agree! So much more than simple GPX files is possible within the integrated MRA eco-system! Things like the pause symbols, integration of POIs is a route, that can be added to the route, during the ride, at will, or pronouncing anything you add as a note. It makes a TT or Zumo something of the previous century πŸ˜‰

I don't agree with that at all. But, let's not get hostile here.
I'm an old-school biker. And an old-school user of the navi.
My comment was posted mainly because of the future of the Planner for others than MRA Navigation. Perhaps the largest group of Planner users. But of course I don't know that.
And that same comment is misplaced in this topic.

@Jack-van-Tilburg, you do not really think there should be no new features in the planner to not make oldskool navigation users jealous, do you? The wording is not intended to bully tomtom and garmin users, it is intended to express that development of the MRS ecosystem should not be held back to the standard of those devices, when so much more is possible.

This should not be a hostile act to annoy users completely happy with other gps devices.

Yesterday, I used the new version on my OnePlus 6T following a 35 km route in online mode. In the morning from home to work and in the afternoon from work to home. In the morning it all worked ok without any problem. However, in the afternoon the app was constantly switching during the whole route between online and offline mode. When back in online mode it was always searching quite some time for a GPS signal and when it has found GPS, it almost directly switched to offline mode. On my phone I could see that it had a 4G mobile connection. Don't know whether this is an app problem because in the morning everything was ok. Back home I did a reset of my GPS information but could not test it already.

@Arno-0 I have had the same problem the last couple of days with 4.06 -231 with Android 14 (Pixel 6 Pro). I manually switched to offline for a while and then changed back to online after which there were no more issues.

The problem for me always seems to occur when I start the route and does not seem to stop unless I force offline for a while, or I cancel navigation of a route and then restart.

Very strange and I am not sure what is going on. More testing needed.

Kind Regards. Help where I can.

It is not the GPS signal that gets lost. The icon with the round arrows means it is trying a recalculation. Without internet connection in online mode that is impossible.

Yes very strange indeed. This has been going on for several updates already. The internet-check detects a live connection and puts the phone in online status. A recalculation makes use of that connection, times out (at which time you see the icon with the round arrows) and decides to put it in offline mode again. Repeat.

I am assuming a problem with DNS or gateway after changing the method of internet connection (wifi to GSM or vice versa). What would be interesting to see is if it keeps occuring after starting the app and the route in GSM mode (so switch off wifi before starting the app).

Ok. Good idea. I will give that a go with WiFi off next time. Additionally, it seems to only happen on my Android phone and not my iPhone. More testing needed with both devices and I will report back.

I was not connected to WiFi but used the mobile Internet connection from my phone so this does not solve the problem.
