Cannot deviate from route
-
I am not sure if this has been discussed, but I am using the App for the first time, driving a 3500 miles trip from UK down to and through the Alps, so I thought I would leave feedback as I find problems!
So, if I start one of my planned routes but I deviate from it (maybe I know a quicker / better road), the App does not recognise this and keeps trying to take me back to the planned route.
I would like a button / menu item to ‘recalculate route’ or (Like Waze etc) for the App to automatically do this and plan a new route from my deviation.
I have also had a problem once where the voice command was telling me to turn right at the next roundabout, but the map and route were straight ahead. This was confusing. I went straight and everything was OK.
What I like about the App so far is EVERYTHING ELSE! Seriously, you guys made a great App. I hope my feedback will help make it even better

@Tom-Grzelinski Great to hear that you like the app If you choose to skip the route points that you intentionally miss (long press on the route point that you wish to continue from) the app will not continue to send you back to the missed route points.
Enjoy the rest of your tour to the Alps. -

@Nick-Carthew Hi Nick, the problem was there were only two waypoints, Start and Finish, so because I deviated (at the very beginning of the route) it kept trying to take me back to the start point!

That sounds like you missed passing the start point. It’s always good practice to position your start point 100+ m from your actual start point.
And although I haven’t tested this with just two route points, I’m confident that a long press on the last route point will have prevented you from being redirected back to the first route point. -
@Nick-Carthew I’ll try it out when I’m back home

@Tom-Grzelinski, were you navigating a track instead of a route? Or did you use the curvy road options? They generate a track indeed. Like Nick says, not hitting the startpoint would explain why it keeps sending you back. Start and endpoint are always VIA point and will not skip automatically.

@Con-Hennekens I think I simply missed the start point, although I cannot be sure. I will check this out when I get back to the UK.

MRA has Google Street View built in to the route planner.
You can check the quality roads at the planning stage. -
