MyRoute-app & BarButtons - control our app using a bluetooth keyboard
-
@Maicro Happy to hear your enthusiasm! This is exactly why we are looking into these integrations.
To answer your questions (and @Jörgen), given the price I’d buy it now if you are enthusiastic. The product might be redesigned or get a custom branding but feature wise it won’t change a lot!
@Maicro skipping waypoint is possible already! See demo video. It’s a long press on a button. Zooming works too! However when navigating the camera stops following you when you changed the zoom. This is however a feature that will be added in the app!

I have seen the pics with the smaller versions, which i would prefer. Did you get any Informations about an Release date? I definitely want to use this keyboard this season.
greetings

@Ronni we don’t have any information about this. It’s all about prototyping and brainstorming now
However, if there would be a MRA branded version, I’d guess that will be available around the release of the the app. -
@Corjan-Meijerink ok. thx.

@Corjan-Meijerink
This one llooks awesome.
Particularly thumb post.
Similar to the Tigers. -
@Steve-Lynch did somebody say Tiger?
-
@Corjan-Meijerink, it's probably not your game at MRA, but perhaps you can forward this. I like the joystick, bit (like the name says) it "sticks" out too much to be comfortable in operating it. I would prefer a Nintendo-style d-pad:
But I can't seem to find the switch for it.
Also perhaps move the LED to one of the sides. It might give room for an ENTER switch too, so you can start apps from the homescreen. The cursor already works for that, so we can already select an icon, just not execute it yet. And if you are screenprinting the logo, screenprint the button designations along with it -
@Corjan-Meijerink This one is perfect for me:
To be honest you can use your big gloves to scroll the map or zoom in/zoom out. What is difficult and dangerous is to tap the screen buttons with the big gloves. The more you try to hit it, the more dangerous it is.
So for me: Re-Center, Skip waypoint, Toggle ETA these are my bread and butter.
Cheers!

There is a new prototype version on JaxeADV insta. And i agree with @Corjan-Meijerink: a barbutton with MRA branding at release of MRA Next, that would be great.
Joost from JaxeADV said: "There is currently 1 "under control" version on the road. I'm designing some other versions but nothing final yet.
The feature set of the version with joystick is identical to the one with the directional buttons. The keyboard support in MRA pretty much allows you to do a lot. See video with Corjan in action".Unfortunately, no Statement about Release date
Greetings

@Ronni, to be honest: I don't fancy the buttons between the grip and the regular needed buttons, especially the turn-lights. Priority needs te be at regular handlebar functions...
-
@Con-Hennekens I agree its a safety issue and on some bikes this design could cause clutch leveler not to be engaged fully (potentialy bike wont start if clutch switch is not engaged)
But this concept is much better . jogger and enter button. all you need. Can it be a jugger button up, down,left, right and pust to enter? Just like on triumph bike....then all you need is one
-
Did someone say Tiger.
Sorry couldn’t stop myself! -
@Steve-Lynch I had the same urge!
-
@Corjan-Meijerink
Tiger freaks three of us already here -
@Jure-Sirena-0
Make that 4. I can feel an MRA Tiger club beginning to form -
Back to the topic.
There will be no space between grip and bike button at my bike, so it must be installed on the handlebar.
PS: Where is the V-Strom MRA Group?
-
@Jörgen Indeed! I’m also opting for mounting on the handlebar.
-
The concept of handlebar controls is interesting but i feel it's much safer to pull before playing with the screen. Even momentary distractions can lead to bad outcomes.
-
My focus is using the sat nav with gloves. Even when standing, operation with gloves is difficult. These BT keyboards, no matter which one, make operation and selection much easier. So, having it at the handlebar is absolutely ok for me.

I'm pro for a bluetooth controller possibility within the app. You should make it so that the user can load dirrent profiles for different controllers, like for the MRA controller or a profile for BWM, or make a custom profile if they want to... That way you're not obligated to create a MRA controller.
Why shouldn't you make a MRA controller? First of all, small quantity production so it will cost a lot to produce and distribute... Also has to be waterproof and then there's the warranty situation...I'm currently using a waterproof phone but I'm thinking of using a waterproof cellphone holder just to be shure so manupulating the phone with gloves will be hard. A BT controller would be super in combination with the app.
