Suggestion: convert route to route-track from within MRA Routeplanner

It occurs to me that this suggestion has gained an additional benefit in combination with MRA Navigation (Next): to use track navigation with MRA Navigation, you currently have to perform the same two steps on routes you have created yourself, or that you have found in the RouteLab. Although it would be even nicer (IMO) if users of MRA Navigation could simply choose from the app if they wanted to navigate a certain route using waypoint or track based navigation, implementing this suggestion would already take some of the pain of enabling track navigation for your own routes away.

The quickest way I know is to save the Route with Waypoints as a GPX1.1 (Track, POI)
Then upload it as a Route-Track.
I guess those are the same 2 steps you are trying to avoid.@Steve-Lynch
For me, with a BMW Navigator V, the best format is GPX 1.2. -

That's really cool and very user-friendly for users of the app. I hope the original suggestion will be made available in the planner too

Hi, before starting new topic, I search for it and found this discussion, last message was in 2023, meanwhile I can't find it in the planner, does it mean there will be no solution to convert a route directly into a track directly in the planner ? Or is it somewhere in the planning ?

Why do you want to convert a route into a track? For the same reason as the post creater?

Hi Kris,
if you want this feature for maintaining a route archive, I would suggest that you use the tracklogs. I do the same, as my experience is, that most of the times we ahve to use smaller or bigger deviations to the original route. I always upload/save the tracklog at the end of the trip. This is then my archive

Note: I'm aware there's a work-around: save as GPX (with track), import as route-track. I would just like to get rid of those two steps.
For archival purposes, I would like to be able to 'convert' routes I've used in the past to route-tracks, to maintain their 'integrity' over time. Routes (based on waypoints) run the risk of being changed without my involvement, by changes in the map they are based on, changes in the route-calculation algorithm and more. To preserve the route as it was when it was originally created, it would be great to be able to convert it to a route-track from within MRA.
@Herko-ter-Horst It must be almost 3 years ago I asked the development team to introduce this feature....

This feature request probably is superseeded by the "Navigate route as track" feature in combination with the fact that every route already contains a lowres track to enable this feature.
Having said that, to copy a route as a track could be beneficial for sharing the track among users of third-party navigation systems from within the MyRouteApp planner (without export/import). Also it is a great tool for quickly comparing a route for changes, when they are getting old.
