Hi all, would it be possible to have among the export options also the one for the BMW ConnectedRide Navigator? Unfortunately using save as gpx1.1 does not recognize the custom name of the WP or SP. Most likely it uses a different saving scheme, with another web application it works perfectly...

@Devis The problem here isn't with MRA or the export function.

This is an inherent feature of the CRN.

The CRN only has waypoints and cannot distinguish between “Via” and “SP.”

Additionally, the CRN limits you to 50 waypoints.

Anything beyond 50 points is then displayed as a track.

EsGives the competitor (K) the export for the CRN, which can be selected directly, which works very well and WP and SP can be recognized separately ...

Such a thing would certainly be technically possible with the MRA, ... and desirable for many here.

              Hey dear MRA team,

It would be nice if there was also the format for the CRA (the CRN), this would inspire many users.

Especially when the own texts from the MRA planning (gold) would be taken over to the WP or SP.

Unfortunately, the 1.1 GPX format does not allow this.

Thank you for the work you put into our dream every day so that we can ride a motorcycle in a relaxed way.

              Best regards

@Devis Did you try using TomTom as the base map instead of HERE? I believe the CRN uses TomTom maps under the covers (not 100% sure), but it’s worth a try to see if there is any difference.

Hi everyone, I ended up selling the CRN; I really didn't like it. Aside from the fact that I don't see much of a future for it—what with the lack of updates and poor after-sales support—I've gone back to Garmin!!

You really should provide some objective facts when you make these kinds of assertions. "Better" can have many different meanings.

Without necessarily intending to, you're showing that the MRA app and a Garmin GPS respectively focus on different things. You're correct that a Garmin doesn't capture images, texts and colors. If that's your main focus, then the app is a good choice. For me personally, all this falls into the category of up-front planning, so I don't find it to be priority #1.

On the other hand, a Gamin excels at core navigation capabilities. The units (depending on model) dynamically capture 20+ trip data metrics in the areas of navigation and route data. They're all available for viewing (as they're updated) during the ride. Most of these elements are simply not captured in the MRA app. Also important, a Garmin GPS provides more detailed and vibrant 3D navigation maps (especially the XT3), has superior off-route navigation capabilities, the ability search "up ahead" in a number of categories, and if you choose to, dynamically modify your route for additional unplanned stops. This all falls into the category of core capabilities, which for me is my focus while on the road.

So "better" is going to depend on what's most important to an individual rider. There really isn't an absolute when considering the choices.

Okay .. I find the MRA Navi app more flexible than a pure Garmin navigation system. After 20J Garmin Zumo 550, 660 and the BMW Navi VI as well as planning with Bascamp I have been happy and very satisfied with the MRA Planning Gold and MRA Navi App for 4 years. You should take your time with the app and its functions, only then is it the success you want.

Especially if you want to discuss the route with friends in the evening over a beer and want to insert changes quickly, it all works on your mobile phone or iPad and everyone can access it directly. The whole thing is a special function among MRA friends and groups that we like to use all together.

So everyone as he likes, like one way or so, and driving should always be in the foreground.

As a driver who is only on the road with himself, a navigation system is probably the choice especially if you want to travel the world and have to fight your way through the long day by day.

Fair points. It goes back to the focus of the App vs. Garmin. There is a social tilt on the MRA side that doesn't exist in a Garmin unit. Certainly, that's a benefit if everyone is on the same page and using the MRA platform. I've yet to ride with any group that has that kind of discipline. 😊

For reference, the latest Garmin you used (BMW Navi VI) is almost 10 years old. Since then, Garmin has introduced the Zumo XT, Zumo XT2, and the current Zumo XT3. The 3D map technology and other evolutionary improvements have taken their GPS units far beyond what you owned. Even going from the XT to the XT3 was a shocker to me as far as improvements. In comparison to using a phone, a dedicated "for purpose" GPS device will always have HW capabilities that are superior. The SW in a phone app can only compensate so much.

Still, I'm rooting for the MRA development team. It's impressive what they've done with NEXT, and there will always be a navigation audience that prefers a phone, even if it doesn't have all capabilities of a dedicated GPS. That's the way the total Navigation Demographic is moving, so they're smart to satisfy that growing demand. I'm just glad for MRA Routeplanner. It's superior to Basecamp, and I've 90% migrated to it. I think we can all agree to that.

The whole thing is a special function among MRA friends and groups that we like to use all together.

I have extensive experience with the XT and XT2. None with the XT3. The only thing that you have mentioned that the 3D function on that XT3 is what you like.
What other big difference would there be that would make that XT3 that great.
Up till now I haven't seen any but I hear that there are many. So state them do we van compare them.
You are a great fan of Garmin and I'm into MRA those worlds van exist next to each other. Bare in mind that you're posting on an MRA forum zo to me it seems you're brushing of on MRA. That might not be your intention but that's the impression that sticks to me.
If there are that many of differences between the XT3 and MRA Please let us know. The 3D one to ME in non interesting but I would like to know other differences. And if they are of great use to the community ask the devs of they could be implemented in MRA.

You've previously described your extensive experience with the following:

Yes I did use an XT device for a couple of years and the main reason for me to switch to the T865X was the multiple attempts of that XT to mess up my ride. This is due to way Garmin devices handle routes that are not made with Garmin.

With respect, this says your experience was far from successful. The above says you never got to a point of functionally understanding the XT devices. It's patently false that the XT (by design) messes up routes not made with Garmin. I'll not entertain this at all in a comparison discussion. If you had problems, it was something you were doing wrong on your side. Again, not opinion -- objective fact.

I entered this thread because there was another unnecessary MRA fan comment denigrating the OP's final Garmin decision. I made no Garmin Fanboy comments trying to convert him. If you're truly interested in Garmin functions that don't currently exist in MRA, search my many posts on the subject. I have no interest in repeating them here.

You blame me for all the things Garmin does to protect its own brand.

If you had the XT/XT2 experience you imply, I wouldn't have to name anything. Additionally, if you actually read this thread alone, you'd request a reasonable discussion. In post #13 I listed the following:

                                        John-S-Parry said:

a Gamin excels at core navigation capabilities.

I could go into detail on any of the above items I listed. Again, if you were an experienced/knowledgeable XT/XT2 user, you'd know this stuff without my having to "list" things for you. If you ever want to have an honest conversation about the differences, I'm happy to engage.

Regardless, I'm not trying to convince anyone to change. I only bring this stuff up when incorrrect/unknowlegable statements are made.....
