Hi, when i select a route to download a scroll window opens up indicating multiple file format to chose from (the first being Sync)
i am using MRA to Navigate as well as route build, so was wondering which is the ideal format to use?
    thanks

@Roger-Needham-0 If you're using MRA to navigate you don't have to download the routes. Just make shure that the sync option is on. That applies also to offline navigation

@Roger-Needham-0 as @Marinus-van-Deudekom says, if you are using MRA for navigation make sure the "Sync all my routes" option is enabled/checked it simplifies things greatly,
you find it is under the three dots in the navigation app > routes & tracklogs section
        498ccd96-ccf1-4d7b-8177-bba685e1b2f5-image.png
You then don't have to worry about downloading files or file formats because all your routes in the web planner are also available (synced) in the "Routes & Tracklogs" section of the navigation app

It is probably one of the best features MRA has introduced, no need to worry about garmin drive, thread, tomtom sync, gpx1.1 v gpx1.2, it just works seamlessly with pretty much zero effort

@Roger-Needham-0 in the MyRoute-App on your phone:

          • open a route
          • tap on 3 dots in top right corner
          • select in the context menue: sync all routes

The first time, it will last a couple of minutes (depending on amount of your routes). But later on, each new or updated route will be synched in seconds. And the amount of transmitted date is really less.
That's really the fun point: you can plan routes on PC, take your phone just online, and immediately the route is automatically synched to your phone (you don't need to do anything) - and you can start navigation! No manual file transfer is needed.

To clarify the logic of off vs online navigation.
Does the system automatically switch to offline navigation (provided you have downloaded the maps for the relevant region), if it realises there is no signal?
OR, do you decide before setting off on a route that signal may be bad and toggle on the “Offline Navigation” in Functional Settings ?

@Roger-Needham-0, Both is accurate. Some people like to enable offline Navigation, to reduce all possible intervention from things like traffic info and alike. Also some users mention that automatic on/offline switching comes with some quirks.

Concerning the auto sync feature: this is not part of Navigation. You can have offline Navigation enabled, while syncing your routes over Cell or wifi network. You can also completely disable cell networking, and sync routes on your home or hotel wifi. So having enabled offline navigation does not limit the syncing of routes in any way.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!
