Route recalculation
-
As many people suggested, I disabled automatic route recalculation, but the problem is that when I take the wrong road and don't notice it right away, because I don't always look at the display and when I do look at the display, several minutes have passed since I took the wrong turn and travelled several kilometres, it would be advisable and desirable to have a voice alert when you take the wrong road, the classic ‘make a U-turn as soon as you can’. This way, you immediately realise your mistake.

@ginogino You do receive audible instructions if you leave the route. You can also choose to see the original route should you leave it.
Not sure why you would turn off Automatic recalculation? -

Not sure why you would turn off Automatic recalculation?I don't think I've ever heard any audio signals or instructions telling me I've taken the wrong route. All that happens is that the route disappears from the display, along with all the instructions. I didn't specify, but I was talking about navigation on Android Auto.
On Android Auto, there are no warnings that you have taken the wrong road and with automatic recalculation, if it doesn't realise that you have done so, you can get confused and think you are on the planned route. The last time I had recalculation enabled, it made me drive around a mountain and return to the village where I had taken the wrong road. All it would have taken was a “make a U-turn” warning as soon as I took the wrong road. -
You don't get a message that you have taken the wrong road. Because the road you take is never wrong. There is always a reason for it. A mistake is also a reason.
With recalculation on, you often get an advice to make a U-turn. I don't use recalculation off. But I can image you won't get any directions at all when you are off-route. You switched it off, therefore it is your responsibility to get back on the route. Not your navigation.
