MRA App User Interface
-
I just purchased the DMD T865X 8" tablet which comes with a lifetime subscription to the DMD2 app software and map updates.
In short, the tablet is outstanding. It's Android based, ruggedized, and reasonable. the DMD2 software has been for years optimized for offroad riders and is track focused. I think that they're trying to make it more "on road" focused but we'll see.
IMO software wise DMD2 is probably 2-3 years behind MRA with their on-road app capabilities (not to mention their horrendous lack of documentation.... good job MRA!). However...
One thing that I did find very appealing about the DMD2 app was its user interface. I'm using it on a T865X 8" tablet and it's a pleasure to use with its large, "glove friendly" icons vs. MRA's seemingly web based small interface.
This is just a constructive post that I hope will be accepted in the spirit that it's given.... MRA is absolutely GREAT, and I'm a huge fan. However, the UI on phones and tablets needs a lot of work to make it more rider / glove friendly.
Just my 2 cents. Keep up the good work!

@Steve-Jarrell Hi Steve
I've got the exact same tablet and run MRA on it. The glove friendly part as I see has mostly to do with the DMD screen. You can use it with gloves on but it's not great. Therefore I'm considering buying a Silverfox H1+ to handle it. The only thing that's holding me back is the space on my Goldwing's handle bar -
@Marinus-van-Deudekom I am considering this too! The remote2 has a better joystick but is not working with MRA.

@Arjan-de-Vries Ans on top of that, that one won't certainly don't fit on my GoldWing

@Marinus-van-Deudekom I think that the biggest improvement that could be made would be to make the buttons larger that we push regularly. That's one thing that the DMD2 software does very well.
I have the Carpe Iter remote ordered and it should be here today or tomorrow so I'll report back as to how that works with the DMD tablet. I've heard mixed reviews but I have to try it for myself!

@Steve-Jarrell hi @Steve-Jarrell for the tablet space is issue at all but I van imagine that it would be different dit the users of a phone. But lets ask the expert opinion of @Corjan-Meijerink and see if he has a solution
Let me know how the Carpe Iter remote is performing -

I'd recommend @Corjan-Meijerink take a look at the map view in the DMD2 app for some ideas on the interface. DMD2 is sorely limited in a lot of its features, but I do like some of its UI functionality. For off-road riding it would no doubt be a great app.... for on-road touring, it's extremely limited currently.
I'll be honest... I was very surprised and pleased to see how well the MRA app performs on the Android platform and on the DMD-T865X tablet. I tried it on my iPhone using the Chigee device and in my opinion the Apple CarPlay interface is currently just too limited and the Chigee device is too small to be useful for my purposes.
I'm sure the DMD tablet with the MRA app is going to be ideal for my use.

DMD2 is very good for off road - while MyRoute-App is very good for on road. Both intends to limit their gaps.
I believe, easiest would be, they should marry

DMD has a clever automatism: the app detects, if it's running on a phone, or a tablet. Per example, there is a extra app to configure function of device- and remote hardware buttons. It will be detected automatically a phone has only 2 buttons, vice versa the tablet has 6. So, technically it's possible to arrange SW buttons on screen, depending at display size...

It is...
Way too many and way too small buttons.
