Zooming in CarPlay & Android Auto
-
I've tried the new version a couple of times now in my car with CarPlay but it doesn't want to dynamically zoom in anymore. So it's stays on the same zoom level even if I'm driving slower or when entering a roundabout or exit. Very frustrating. Any ideas to solve this? Has maybe to do with my configuration but it has worked before. Thanks

@Arno-0
I tested the new version immediately after Release with CarPlay and had exactly the same issue / question. Hopefully it is not an issue sitting in front of the CarPlay device -
@Arno-0 The solution to this is simple but at first I didn't know either: in the window where you have zoom and centring options, click again on the icon you used to open this zoom window. If you do this, MRA reverts to the Dynamic setting in which it automatically zooms again. If you wait until this window closes itself, MRA stays in "top camera" mode with fixed zoom and is thus not switched back!

@silberfuchs67 Android Auto is the same ... I prefer a downgrade than this this crap ....
-

@Corjan-Meijerink , selecting waypoint of AA screen not working, phone OK
yesterday i did a nice ride in our area, prepared a route like a brezel, used the route as a track with all waypoints (~every 2 km) .
at an unwantedt shortcut with rerouting active the ride went craczy and at the end mra quits, after restarting the route with deactivated rerouting I schoud start from poit 1 instead of point 29 infront of me, I tried to shortcut to the point by pressing the point om the AA Screen, nothing changes only the map where paned, by doing the same on the phone it works a expected and the restart of the Track / route work well.
is this a known problem, can you reproduce it?,
best regards,
Fridjof -
@Fridjof Well, you by design from Android Auto (and CarPlay) not select anything on the map by tapping
This is a user distraction while driving so not permitted. -
@white-mouse unless I misunderstand what your saying (and I don't think I am), this did not work for me either. I can use the +/- to zoom in or out as desired, which then stayed on that zoom level unless adjusted again. A click on the icon that opened the zoom level did absolutely nothing.
I'm with all the others on this issue - if zoom (among other things) does not work properly on CarPlay, the Next App is unusable to me.
Seems every update takes 3 steps forward and 2 steps backward - a lot of past issues that were solved seem to come back - like zoom, wapypoint skipping, online vs offline, unable to calculate, etc. Seems like each update overwrites a previous fix.

@Corjan-Meijerink
what is your solution to deal with this situation / problem?

@Fridjof Is your finding related to the subject of this thread: Zooming in Carplay/Android auto?
-
@Léon-Hassing
zooming is one of the needed on screen interactions on the dash AA or CP screen,
when MRA offers a feature to go dirct to a further point to shorten a route or skip some points on the phone screen while in a driving session with AA, I like to have this option also on the AA screen,
while driving I ca change the APP, skip or pause mp3 files, having a phone call, but no manual option to solve a scrambled route operating the AA Screen, why i can zoom and pan the map, but not selecting a given way or shaping point for reroutind the loaded route? -
@Fridjof, this basically comes down to Apple and Google limitations. They don't allow a lot of interaction in their apps. So the use of AA/CP comes with limitations. That is why many people prefer a native device.

Yes, AA/ACP has limitations.
For navigation apps, the biggest limitions i encounter are when you start a route or select a destination. These functionality is to limited in AA/ACP (in general).
But when the route is on your screen, then the limitations are not really limitations at all. Because when the navigation does it's job, then there is no need to touch the screen.I am a fan of AA. Nice big built-in screen and a clean interface.
