Open google maps in new tab centered at same point

This may not be possible but it would be very handy for me....
When planning a routes I'm often hopping between google maps and the route planner to use the search nearby, reviews and links to web sites.
Would it be possible to provide a way to open a new google maps tab centered on the current routeplanner view?

@Nick-Carthew Thank you for the suggestion, works a treat and certainly an option.
In most cases I would have to create a waypoint first then delete/move it afterwards. -
