I might be stupid, but I don't know what "OTG" means. Sorry, for asking šŸ™‚

@TomOnTour you are not stupid... with otg cable you van connect a tablet or phone to a usb device like a usb stick or a navigation device. there are lightning and usb variants. with this you can connect your garmin to a phone or tablet without any pc. i use it when i do not have good internet (wifi or 4g) and i want to transfer a gpx file to my garmins or tomtom. only important thing is that your garmin is in USB storage mode. in the past i had to correct this on my 345. my xt was setup correctly.

@TomOnTour, In essence, an OTG cable connects to your phone's charge port and enables regular USB devices to be connected to your phone.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebar to the saddle.

@Bouke-Ent Ok, got it. To be honest I never tried it, but it sounds similar to what I currently do, as I connect a MicroSD reader to my tablet and transfer the GPX-file onto a MicroSD and then I plug the MicroSD into my XT2. I should give it a try to connect my XT2 directly to my tablet.

        Greetings

@TomOnTour sd option also works but with mij big fingers it is not always easy with small sd and flaps from zumo šŸ˜‰ . with some android tablet you get a otg cable. this is what it looks like: https://www.allekabels.nl/usb-otg-kabel/6300/1258217/usb-otg-adapter.html?mc=nl-nl&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-uK0BhC0ARIsANQtgGP7UeRNrnoDYvz4-kwIuNd2p3VziNcQLQsKVjrTxRQM_8j2NQyxAT8aAkE7EALw_wcB

I've recently added an XT2 to my stable and have run into an odd problem.

Garmin documentation indicates the XT2 is no longer compatible with Garmin Basecamp. That in itself is not a surprise. What is a surprise is Garmin insists only output from the Garmin Tread application is compatible with the XT2.

I've tried importing MRA gpx files in v1.1 and v1.2 format and neither work

The only reliable workaround I've discovered is to delete any route files from MRA and convert the track files that are also sent along into routes. Somewhat cumbersome.

Does anyone know if Garmin has adopted a more recent .gpx file format version or have they moved the route file format version into the 'private and not published' status?

@austin-1 I TOO HAVE THE ZUMO XT2, I WORK FROM A MAC PRO DESK TOP.
I HAVE HAD SUCCESS ONCE I DISCOVERED THE ' ANDROID FILE TRANSFER APP'

I CONNECT MY ZUMO XT2 DIRECT WITH A USB-C CABLE TO MY LAP TOP, THEN GIVE ' ANDROID FILE TRANSFER ' APP UP TO ONE OR TWO MINUTES TO RECOGNIZE THE ZUMO.

A SEPARATE WINDOW WILL OPEN SHOWING THE FILES ON THE ZUMO.

DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ' SAVE ' YOUR FILES FROM MRA YOU WILL NEED TO OPEN A SEPARATE WINDOW AND THEN DRAG THE NEW FILE INTO THE GPX FOLDER .. IT WILL LOAD IMMEDIATELY.

NEXT DISCONNECT AND RE-START YOUR ZUMO, THE ZUMO WILL TELL YOU THERE ARE ' NEW ' FILES TO DOWNLOAD.

THIS NEXT PART IS SOMETHING MAYBE ONLY I AM STRUGGLING WITH AS A PAST ' BASECAMP ' UDER.

I AM CURRENTLY STARTING THE ROUTES I TRANSFER WITH ' ALL ' VIA POINTS ... NO ' SHAPING POINTS '.

THEN ON THE ZUMO I CHANGE THE POINTS TO ' SHAPING AS NEEDED. THIS IS BECAUSE THE SHAPING POINTS SEEM TO NOT CLEAR AUTOMATICALLY IF A VARY OFF ROUTE AND ALSO I BELIEVE I MUST NOT UNDERSTAND SOMETHING ABOUT ' IGNORING ' THEM.

              Good morning,

why don't you use the "Drive" app to transfer directly to the XT(2) without a cable via Bluetooth or use "Garmin Explore" and save Tracks and Routes and Favorits in the "Garmin Cloud".

@Dirk-Kevin-K Because that is - at least for me - not working. Tread APP and the Explore-Cloud ā€ždestroyā€œ the original route. Tracks works fine, but routes are impossible to use.

@austin-1 Is is possible to see the XT2 as a storage location when you connect it to the Mac. If so, just export the GPX1.2 to a location and copy that file to the GPX dir in the XT2. If you disconnect the GPS (which shuts the GPS down). Start it again and it will ask to import the new route (from track to tour).

This does not seem to be an MRA problem, perhaps you can get help here Naviboard / XT2

                            Hi All,

I have simply given up and removed Tread from all my devices and only transfer my routes from MRA with a wired connection… I know we all go round in circles with this subject but has anyone managed to successfully get a route from MRA to Tread to their XT2 OTA (Bluetooth)

Personally I cannot get any of the file formats to go on without some form of error in the route, this always starts with the Tread app…

                            Thanks,

                            Andy.

Been playing a little more with this thing. I'm now happy that my system works fine to wirelessly import MRA routes and tracks in GPX 1.1 (auto recalculate in auto). Important for when on bike tours away from a computer.

Using the MRA wired connector also means you can import GPX 1.2 files in the normal way which is great as these follow your track exactly (auto recalculate off).

I've also found how to make a track visible under the route. On the main map, click on Layers - Collections - Unorganised. Make sure first to make the intended track your colour of choice (black seems to work best), make it widest and 'show on top'. Your other tracks may be there but they will probably be yellow. Obviously, reorganise or delete after use to avoid confusion.

I hope I'm not teaching anyone to suck eggs and this is useful. At least it's a starting point to develop further discussion.

Maybe a new GPX will get created to work with Garmin Explore.

Been playing a little more with this thing. I'm now happy that my system works fine to wirelessly import MRA routes and tracks in GPX 1.1 (auto recalculate in auto).

How are you wirelessly importing your GPX files into the XT2?

@Ron-Z import the GPX file into Tread app and it’s there. The trick is to make sure there are enough shaping points so that Tread (and the Zumo) don’t think better and reroute it.

@Carl-Lee You are correct, that is exactly how it should be if you read the descriptions of Garmin, but unfortunately in reality it is a bit different:
My experience was, that it works from time to time, but not always. Specially my experience that Tread messes up not only the routes etc. on the XT2, but also the Garmin explore data in such a away, that I haven't been able to "repair" differences between Tread APP, my XT2 and the Garmin Explore webpage. It was that bad that I lost all the data I already have migrated from various sources into the Garmin Tread and Explore universe.

Beside that I must admit, that it have worked for a very short period of time and only as long as used it more or less seldom. As soon it is was used heavily for planning and organising things, it messes it totally up.

                                    Greetings
