Announcements for going straight at a crossing
-
Not sure how I feel about this too.
Just like the request where people want the app to warn about sharp corners this falls sort of in that category. When a dangerous crossing is coming up, there will be road signs / markings on the road to warn you about that
Just like a sudden sharp turn will be announced on the road itself. Now that's my opinion as user of the app and enthusiastic rider
As developer - it would be a pain to develop given all the conditions when those announcements would be annoying and unnecessary. Also the information is now simply lacking from the active navigation guidance.
@Corjan-Meijerink the app would be endlessly talking if this was to be done....creating a more unsafe condition, IMO, as it would soon become an annoyance and many riders would tone it out.

I like it when the navigation lady does not say to much. I normaly try to drive on visual look at the screen where I can see the corners. To many warnings is not my thing. But Con is right about danger that is not always shown on the map or on the road but I think this kind of danger info does not be part of the Here road information that you can select.

@Peter-Schiefer said in Announcements for going straight at a crossing:
The instruction from the teacher was clear. „As long I say nothing we drive straight on“
I am not trying to teaching you how to drive, but trying to warn you for hidden accidents.
And me I have always „one“ eye on the map the check the route and my position.
Me too... If the HERE map actually had any detail, I would probably not have suggested this. So, you are wright...
@Corjan-Meijerink, please get HERE to release proper mapsThis post is deleted! -
It’s a bit like when creating a route, not too many shaping points. I am very happy with the way the anouncements are done in the current situation. Too much talking is irritating is my personal opinion.

Huge reaction to what seemed like a simple request. My TomTom used to tell me to go straight when traveling on a multilane highway (not so much on other roads) and I found it very annoying to say the least. I think we have far too much automation in today's vehicles. It's no wonder people don't know how to drive unless the vehicle tells them what to do. I guess self driving vehicles will be the ultimate automation.

I like the idea too, but I think it should only give attention if the crossing has a STOP sign on my road. But is this possibel?

MHO
I read this and fear that it unfortunately applies to many drivers these days.I have always „one“ eye on the map
Perhaps a good idea for everyone to have both eyes on the road. So that the next thing doesn't have to happen!
surprised by a crossing that was nearly invisible in reality
Fortunately, I also see these wise words.
When a dangerous crossing is coming up, there will be road signs / markings on the road to warn you about that
Just like a sudden sharp turn will be announced on the road itself. You can read a road. But then you have to see it.

I don't think what is being requested is included in the Here maps attributes. It is on OSM maps as are speed bumps! Don't particularly needed as has been said keep eyes on the road
-
My opinion is that a Sat Nav is there to guide you along a route so that you don't go wrong or get lost. It is not to take the place of diligently looking at road signs in order to keep yourself safe. No instruction means "stay on this road". If we start asking for straight on at junction, sharp bend, and hump back bridge warnings we will become lazy and forget to read the road. The we will be blaming the Dev's for accidents and going nuts with the amount of talking in our heads.

I believe enough has been said.
This request won’t be implementedThanks for all the insights!
