I would like crossings where you go straight to be announced like crossings where you take a turn.

Sometimes a crossing, especially in suburban areas, not helped by the lack of detail on the HERE map, comes as a surprise. Since there is no instruction, there is also no zooming in. It would be great if an announcement could be made like "Go straight at the next crossing". That would also make going straight an instruction, triggering the automatic zooming.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebar to the saddle.

I totally agree with your suggestion Con. I have come across this issue several times and, if it's a road or area you have not travelled before it can definitely catch you out.

@Mike-Whitwam, yes, especially in mountenesque forests where crossings appear right behind a corner... (phew...!) 😉

@Con-Hennekens I do see what You mean but….. There’s a but, if your wish would be fullfiled when would you have the crossings be anounced, all the the crossings wirch woula lead to a constant talking person if you drive in a city. I think you’re better of placing a warning point yoursel while planning the route.

@Marinus-van-Deudekom, you cannot place warnings yourself because you don't know beforehand when a crossing will not be visible. But I do agree in urban situations this could be undesirable to a certain level. On the other hand, I really would not mind an instruction to go straight. That happens a lot already as it is, in the form of which lane to use. I guess something clever would have to be thought up. Our devs are good at that 😉

@Con-Hennekens sorry Con. I don’ agree with you this time. While planning a route à crossing next to curve might warn you. Taking a look on streetview gives you the overview you need to decide wether or not you pkace a warning shaping point.

@Marinus-van-Deudekom, no problem, we do not always have to agree. I think it would prevent possible dangerous situations. And I think it is not really problematic to think up a condition to prevent this in urban situations. Either on city limit information, or easily only after the absence of instructions for the past 1 or 2 km. You have to consider that often we are talking about crossings where you need to give way. Maybe you need the experience of such a situation to be able to value the idea 😉

Not sure how I feel about this too.
Just like the request where people want the app to warn about sharp corners this falls sort of in that category.

When a dangerous crossing is coming up, there will be road signs / markings on the road to warn you about that 😉
Just like a sudden sharp turn will be announced on the road itself.

Now that's my opinion as user of the app and enthusiastic rider 🙂

As developer - it would be a pain to develop given all the conditions when those announcements would be annoying and unnecessary. Also the information is now simply lacking from the active navigation guidance.

I don't agree that this request falls into the same category (at all!). Navigation is there for giving directions. Why not give directions for going straight? Of course it would be nice if a warning could be given only when crossing a priority road, but I am not sure if there are parameters for that in the map data.

But as said earlier, this is mainly helpful on mountainesque forest roads. Dutch flatlanders will probably not value the idea...

@Nick-Carthew, It's pulling a serious request into ridiculousness, so yes. There have been more than one occasions on which I found myself surprised by a crossing that was nearly invisible in reality as well on the map. So it is not just one more stupid idea. No hard feelings though 😉

@Corjan-Meijerink the app would be endlessly talking if this was to be done....creating a more unsafe condition, IMO, as it would soon become an annoyance and many riders would tone it out.

I like it when the navigation lady does not say to much. I normaly try to drive on visual look at the screen where I can see the corners. To many warnings is not my thing. But Con is right about danger that is not always shown on the map or on the road but I think this kind of danger info does not be part of the Here road information that you can select.

It’s a bit like when creating a route, not too many shaping points. I am very happy with the way the anouncements are done in the current situation. Too much talking is irritating is my personal opinion.

Huge reaction to what seemed like a simple request. My TomTom used to tell me to go straight when traveling on a multilane highway (not so much on other roads) and I found it very annoying to say the least. I think we have far too much automation in today's vehicles. It's no wonder people don't know how to drive unless the vehicle tells them what to do. I guess self driving vehicles will be the ultimate automation.

I like the idea too, but I think it should only give attention if the crossing has a STOP sign on my road. But is this possibel?

                                          MHO 😉
I read this and fear that it unfortunately applies to many drivers these days.

I have always „one“ eye on the map

Perhaps a good idea for everyone to have both eyes on the road. So that the next thing doesn't have to happen!

surprised by a crossing that was nearly invisible in reality

Fortunately, I also see these wise words.

When a dangerous crossing is coming up, there will be road signs / markings on the road to warn you about that 😉
Just like a sudden sharp turn will be announced on the road itself.

You can read a road. But then you have to see it.
