      Cheers,

during my tour last weekend I again had the feeling that something is not working as intended.

First: route in MRA Routeplanner is other than what comes out of Navigation Next.
Here´s an example, yellow line is what NN was supposed to do. Actual waypoints come from the tracklog:
      komisch.jpg

I understand that traffic, road blocks, etc. can have the route changed when starting navigation. But: deviation from the plan can mean lots of extra time needed to reach the end. IF you reach the end...^^

In this specific scenario, NN totally effed up between waypoints 34 and 36, led me into no man´s land until at some point I reached a dead end (WP 36 and I am clearly not on the Autostrada^^):
      dead end.jpg

I then ignored any directions and tried to get back somewhere with AC and cold water to restart Navigation (WP 39/40).^^

      Intended Route: https://www.myrouteapp.com/de/social/route/9348458?mode=share

      Tracklog: https://www.myrouteapp.com/de/social/track/611251?mode=share

What did I do wrong in planning or what am I missing? I have a couple more situations like this tracked and can provide on demand.^^

Note: since I experienced problems with skipped waypoints in the past I followed advice to use less waypoints. In this case, it didn´ t go well.^^

      Fossibot F101 Pro, Android 14
      NN 4.1.3 - 312
Offline Nav, online only to load the route

      Cheers from Austria,
      André

@Erdna The first thing I notice is that, if I use your originally planned route, there are no other waypoints scheduled between waypoint 3 and 4. You leave the route calculation to Navigation Next. Just past waypoint 3, I see a roadwork icon (see picture). Could the app have thought it couldn't proceed further and devised an alternative route? I would have definitely placed more waypoints (shaping points) between 3 and 4.

The same applies to the section where you say the app completely lets you down. Why not choose to add more shaping points? By doing so, you don't leave the determination to the navigation engine but keep control yourself!

@Rob-Verhoeff perfect example of why the developers need to increase the size of icons to make them visible/discernable, and to reduce the width of the blue route line, which tends to cover up the much thinner yellow & red lines when route traffic shows up. 👍

            I am a little bit confused.^^

I had another issue with skipped waypoints and was advised to use less waypoints. That´s what I tried here, because it didn´t really matter.

But: I should be able to rely on the route and when checking early in the morning, Routeplanner showed what I pictured. Route started with NN a few moments later should not be differing that much in my opinion. If there´s roadworks, Routeplanner and NN should have the same result, shouldn´t it?

@Erdna It's my assumption that it does! Regarding your comment about the number of waypoints, I use as few as possible, but as many as necessary to ensure that my proposed route is actually followed. This means that I often place at least one waypoint (shaping point) on every road I want to travel on.

@Erdna, It looks to me that due to external circumstances the GPS placed you on a road on which you were not. Blindly following instructions in such a case can lead to strange locations. I assume that the road below on the left in your picture was the road intended by the route? They are very close to each other, so a small error in GPS reception is not very unlikely.

I am just an enthusiastic user, and hope you will be one too!

@Con-Hennekens I was curious where that path would lead, so I followed it. I am an experienced rider and calculate risk of being stuck, but I´m also an explorer. Sometimes one has to turn around and sometimes you´ll have great experiences... 🙂

The road below on the left is an Autostrada, and that´s the least where I want to be while touring.^^

The planned route would have the Autostrada on my right side. GPS mismatch may be, but it must have happened long before I reached that point.

So actually it is not a malfunction, but a feature 🤣
