In the app, I have enabled Skip Waypoints Automatically.
During todays ride, I deviated from a route on purpose, and got prompted that waypoint 3 would be skipped. I had a couple of seconds to prevent this, if I should want to.
Nice features. But it got me wondering exactly which waypoint I was about to miss.

How about adding the waypoint name to the prompted message?
If size is an issue, then the names first X characters.

Maybe it wasn't even a waypoint getting skipped, but just a shaping point? In that case the wording in the prompted message was incorrect.

    Best regards, Makro

@Makro Only shaping points can be automatically skipped. Via points (waypoints) have to be manually skipped.

        Thank you for the clarification.
So, since the popup uses the word waypoint, the wording in the popup must be incorrect.

I noticed it because of the on screen. It would be nice if this notification of skipping a shaping point, was also a spoken notification.

        Best regards, Makro

@Makro The word Waypoint is a generic term used for a longitude latitude coordinate position. Via point and shaping point are terms used by MRA to distinguish the different attributes that can be given to waypoints.

Yes, or at least a signal that indicates the skip, so you actually have a chance of pressing the pop up to prevent it.

BTW, shaping points are waypoints just as much as via points.

Aaah, I see. I come from the Garmin world, where I am used to a slightly different use of terms.

It would however still be a more precise popup message, if the wording said it's a shaping point being auto skipped. But not a big deal now 😁

@Peter-Schiefer, Sweet jesus... Just get used to the words....

The train is traveling via Ulm to Munic. This does not say that he stps there.

No, but it DOES say that it goes THROUGH there, which is exactly the meaning of a viapoint: you MUST go through there. Whether you stop or not you can decide for yourself. Wanting to stop there however ca be a good reason for it to force going through there.

Garmin call it Waypoint with alarm on without alarm.

MRA does not and they can decide for themselves, just like Garmin can.

Other nav-planner do not split waypoints in a „shaping“ or viapoint they use only viapoints.

That's ultimately stupid, because that way you cannot have autoskip with having forced VIA points. It is exactly your lines that spread confusion over the terminology. The concept is not that hard to grasp.

@Peter-Schiefer I totaly agree with @Con-Hennekens... In MRA, fortunately, we can distinguish between waypoints we definitely want to visit (viapoints) and waypoints we use 'only' to shape our route (shaping points). I find it as clear as can be!

Please don't tell us how Dutch works, even Google knows better:

And maybe better also not how English works:

But her I will stop too, I am to the IT expert to explain it better.

                      ???

                      The rest: TL;DR
