Seasonal closure issue solved
-
Hi everyone!
Quite some time ago (February) we identified an issue with the seasonal closures: https://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/3343/here-issue-regarding-seasonal-closures
Unfortunately the issue affected a lot of routes, created by many users over quite a long time We were (and still are) very sorry for the inconvenience this caused. As stated in the forum post above, it however wasn't an issue from our side.
Today I've received confirmation from HERE that we are able to use a temporary workaround while their internal development team starts working on a more permanent solution (finally).
As of now, the website is updated to use the temporary workaround!
If we take the following mountain pass as example, you would always be routed the long way around the mountain. Regardless of your seasonal closure setting
If you turn off the seasonal closures using the toolkit, the route now does what you expect!
I'm happy with the solution we now have and once again, sorry for the inconvenience.
Best,
Team MRA -

@Corjan-Meijerink Danke für die Info !!

Thank you for finding a solution. Those of us who plan routes through mountains have been waiting for this and now we are grateful!
-
@Corjan-Meijerink Good Job !!!!
-
@Corjan-Meijerink Many thanks for your efforts, I did realise from the very first problem, the issue was with HERE and not yourselves. Once again, thanks for your efforts and time, much appreciated.

I had suspected my problem with ferry crossings was due to seasonal closures, but now I am not so sure. I used the suggestion to avoid season closures, but still the HERE route takes the long way round. See image showing HERE route compared with TomTom (in red) which takes the ferry.
Here is the setting:-
Is there a way to force the route to use ferries in HERE maps?
Thank you,
Paul

@Paul-French-0 Position route points 3 and 4 close to the ferry departure and arrival points and choose the skip option for route point 4.
-
@Nick-Carthew Thank you - that worked perfectly.
-
@Paul-French-0 You’re welcome
-
@Nick-Carthew How will be the result if you send this route to the zumo XT version 1.2? Will this work right this way?
-
@Bart-4 When you arrive on the other side of the ferry crossing the route will continue from there.

good afternoon @Corjan-Meijerink
for clarity and the avoidance of doubt, I am going to ask this with the risk of looking foolish.
@Corjan-Meijerink said in Seasonal closure issue solved:
If you turn off the seasonal closures using the toolkit,
may I ask, when one turns off seasonal closures what does this action do, and do we,
- put a tick next to "disable seasonal closures, or,
- NOT put a tick next to "disable seasonal closures"
sometimes wording can be slightly confusing.
i.e.
on some websites you get,
if you do not want to receive correspondence do not put a tick in the box, aarrrrggghhhh -
@paul-69, The disabling of Seasonal closures is enabled when ticked. If ticked, you can plan routes over passes that are momentarily closed. I understand your confusion

hi @Con-Hennekens, thanks very much for your reply.
the reason I asked the embarrassing question is,
I planned some routes around the mountain passes earlier in the year for a trip is summer.
I DID have the tick next to "disable seasonal closures" however, no matter how much I tried, in some circumstances it would not allow me to route over a pass, at the time I used HERE map to plan.
this is for info only, and in no way a contradiction.
thanks again.

@paul-69, Don't be embarrassed Actually there have been some problems with that option, introduced by HERE. But they were solved some time ago.
-
Still doesn't work!
-
@Mark-sadz Try adding some more route points to force the HERE map to follow your desired route.
-
@Nick-Carthew I've tried nick it still routes around the wrong way, driving me nuts!!
-
@Mark-sadz Share your route on here and we might be able to offer a solution or workaround.

Hi, I am new here, so please be gentle! I have been using myroute for a few months and have now bought the lifetime package.
I cannot find the 'Disable seasonal closures' option anywhere. It is not in my Toolkit drop down menu. BUT, I am sure it was there a few months ago when I started using myroute.
I am on a Mac and have tried Safari and Chrome browsers, but both are the same.
Can someone tell me where this feature is?
Do I need to switch it on, on my iPhone app? Or is it 'embedded' in the route when you make it on the website?
Thank you for any help.
Tom
