Android Offline - Bugs and Issues
-
Noticed over the last few rides some bugs/issues when in offline mode:
-
Photo Crash. This is intermittent but happens fairly frequently when taking a photo during track recording. I took 30 pics during the route today and had about 7 crashes.
-
Route Resume After Crash. Given the above, the app asked to resume tracking correctly and asked to resume Nav. Great . However, every time it re-started the route from scratch and did not calculate to the next point. Yes I can skip but with 60 points to scroll through this is a bit of a nuisance. The planned route lines look good after the skip though.
-
Roundabouts and Skip.. This has happened fairly regularly with the build 3.2.14 - 172. As I am going around a roundabout quickly, the app appears to think that I have missed my route (even though I have not) and then skips waypoint.
-
Offline Power Consumption. Had to go offline as I headed into a poor signal area. The power consumption increased dramatically until I went back 'online' for the last part of the trip. It is though the app is still trying to background process as though it had the signal. May be tied with photo upload but the drain off line was very noticeable, particularly after the first crash and the first pause/stop in navigation.
-
Position Lag Appeared to be more pronounced offline then online.
Looking forward to the latest build that has just dropped.

@Dave-J-0 Thanks for the feedback!
- interesting, would need to check some logs.
- we indeed received some signals. So every time you clicked "resume", it went to waypoint 1?
- implemented a new algorithm this update so unfortunately (or fortunately) this feedback becomes obsolete
- seems unexpected, thanks!
- couldn't the reason more likely be that you turned on the offline mode as you headed in an area with bad reception and this also affected the GPS? Position is GPS only so the offline / online mode should not influence this.

Happy to hear that! However, most things you mentioned are unchanged

Answers to your queries:

Yes. Back to the beginning but this was after the crash though. The resume normally works ok.

I will try this out with the new version.

Yes could be. I will keep an eye on this.
Again. Keep up the excellent work.
