    Hi,

I have a gold membership. Make all my routes in MRA.
    I have a zumo XT.
Do you check the route in basecamp?
I ask this because I think that the here map in MRA is not the same as the (Up to date) map in the Zumo.

    Am I right?

    Thanks,

    Arjan

@Arjan-de-Vries no, absolutely not. Mra routeplanner is much better than basecamp. πŸ€—

I gave not heard any complaints about the mra here map being outdated. I assume that mra works over a cloud connection to here and therefore always has the most recent versiob.

It is not difficult, it is easy, it's a hobby

Which means the map in Basecamp/on the Zumo is more likely to be "outdated", even if it's the most recent one available.

So it could make sense to check if there are no differences with the map in Basecamp. However, you'll encounter "issues" even if the map matches 100%, for example due to temporary closures/road works/etc. I just tend to deal with those as I encounter them and I treat any differences due to map versions that are potentially still there in the same way as well.

If you look at the very bottom of the right corner of the Here map you will see the following.
Maybe someone from MRA can clarify?

          Hi Arjan,

it's true that the map in Basecamp is slightly different from the most recent Here map used in MRA.
I also have an XT and make all my routes in MRA, and I no longer use Basecamp.

@Steve-Lynch While I'm not sure why the copyright message doesn't seem to be up-to-date, I'm certain the maps are (pretty much) up-to-date, at least judging by some of the roads close to where I live that have changed in the last 6 months.

My son lives in the vacinity of Fern Grove.
Take a look at the differences between the Here and OSM Maps below.

What's your point? That maps from different suppliers differ?

BTW, this is the (c) 2022 map from https://wego.here.com/:
                Screenshot 2022-08-24 at 12.32.13.png
And this is the same area in the (c) 1992-2022 version of TomTom MyDrive:
                Screenshot 2022-08-24 at 12.40.39.png

If there's information missing, you can report it to HERE and TomTom directly using those websites. In my experience with TomTom, any changes I've reported have shown up within a few weeks in MRA as well.

@Herko-ter-Horst to my knowledge, and i dont know about the policies of garmin or mra, there is no guarantee that the basecamp map and the maps on zumo are identical.

For comparison sake only, microsoft tends to update some regions earlier than others.

In all honesty, i dont worry about this too much. Usually, roads are added, not removed and i guess that old roads continue to exist. Maps, whether on paper or digital, become outdated. This is most obvious with speed restrictions. Counting on your gps to avoid tickets is not a good approach. Routing and a nav app are tools, the most important part on the road is to keep your eyes open.

Could be. On my older device, I can use the exact maps from the device itself in Basecamp (with the device connected via USB), 100% guaranteed to be same.

To my knowledge, basecamp and zumo are updated from the same source. So if you update both, they should be exactly equal.

I think I have read on this forum before, that the Here mapsource (no not program!) for the planner and the Navigation app are not identical, and therefore small changes can exist due to differences in update schedules. It has not bothered me though. With clever use of waypoints the chance of noticeable difference is almost zero, and the ones I don't notice, well... I don't notice... πŸ˜‰

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

Yes, but that renders it a user-error instead of a platform mis-design. Does Garmin Express not update both simultaneously (if you let it do that)?
