As I understand it the option in the navigation app "Show next waypoint information"
under navigation settings > screen layout > waypoints
    2a2fea26-26ca-4a6a-93bb-302ebc95071e-image.png

it is intended to show the next waypoint information as per the image on the left below
    9e68430c-6db0-446e-816a-6eae30785515-image.png

the support manual describes the function as :-
"Show next waypoint information: Choose here if you want to see information for the upcoming waypoint. Also, make a distinction whether you only want to see the information of viabpoints or of all waypoints."

my question & the problem I have with this is that the information is only shown at the last minute as you approach the waypoint, there seems to be yet another secret filter that hides the information till you are approximately 0.5 miles / 750m from the waypoint

the setting choice is to show the information "Yes" or "No", the setting choice is not "Yes show it but hide it till the last minute"

waypoints tend to be placed on the approach or exit of a junction or some navigation feature
I do not think it is wise to be having to keep looking at the navigation device anticipating when the waypoint information will appear, my concentration should be on the junction / feature ahead

If I have asked to see this information by enabling the setting, then I think it should ALWAYS be visible

if it was always visible then I would have plenty of opportunity/time to look at the information when it is safe for me to do so, IMO the current implementation is nearly dangerous

it is a great idea to have the information function but for me the current implementation with the hide filter makes it pretty much useless

PS someone will say it saves screen space, my answer if you need the screen space turn the function off

Yes please. I know my waypoints by name, not by number. The next waypoint can be far away. Thats means that with the current setup I see the ETA to my next waypoint but I dont know which waypoint it is. Having an option to have the name of the next waypoint visible somewhere would be great. First part of the name in case of long names.

@Herman-Veldhuizen the information shown in the box down keft only mentions the ETA. You can choose, next shapingpoint, next viapoint or the destination. No name is beeing displayed.

I am not sure you have the correct understanding of the different options and I see a slightly different format to the screenshots you have provided. Hopefully this composite screenshot explains the different screen layout options and their effect as I see them:

          1d78a6f2-7e50-48df-a109-2631ea74fa92-image.png

I don't any evidence of secret filters. Nick Carthew's post at https://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/10307/scrolling-waypoint-info/4?_=1764233635235 explained when the scrolling text for shaping and via points start. If you have a note defined for a via point, that can also be read out and I believe (without actually testing it) that the announcement starts at the same time as the scrolling text.

If I have misunderstood your point, please let me know.

That is exactly what the secret filter is, without @Nick-Carthew post you would have no clue that the "Show next waypoint information" setting actually means the points are hidden till the mysterious start time

Any new user is not going to find @Nick-Carthew post therefore the start time is a secret & only known to the forum Illuminati

ps I am not sure you have the correct understanding. the setting being referred to is this one"Waypoints > Show Next Waypoint Information"
            c4dacbc7-cde2-45db-9ba3-b75deba7f17f-image.png
What is being asked for is too get rid of the secret start filter time & show the next point information "ALL" the time

That setting refers to which type of waypoint information is shown, not when it is shown.
