I just learned that if I put in a stop in the web version of creating a route, this pause is not calculated in when I navgate that route.

However I would find it usefull to have, or at least be able to turn it on/off.
I do realise when I take a longer or shorter break the calculation is not accurate. But as soon as I start riding past the puase point this should be calculated right again (just as if you take a break now and continue after).

So my suggestion is to make an option to be able to take the pause into account for you in navigation mode or be able to switch it off.

Agreed the option would be nice. Having built a route several days/weeks before the trip you come to load it on the day, and your carefully calulated timings are 'wrong' / very (very!) optimistic.

Like you suggest, as you pass the waypoints with pause times, the delay can be removed from the overall time calculation.

However, I can also imagine that the MRA devs have more pressing problems/features to deal with.

I already responded to this in the other topic, but as far as I know, there’s no planner that can take your stop times into account. With current traffic conditions, it's questionable whether you can drive that precisely on time. Even in (classic) rallies where participants have to maintain an average speed, you can see that it's nearly impossible. So how to handle those proposed stop times seems difficult to implement in the app. Personally, I think it's an unnecessary feature—but that’s just my opinion.

It is managed by the MRA planner so it would be good to see it in ETA in the navigation module as well. Maybe as an option in the settings. To be honest, I was surprised that it has not been taken into account yet.

Personally I don't think it makes any sense to have stop times in the Navigator. I like have it in the planner to provide a better understanding of the duration of the entire route but the navigators job to direct me along the route.

@Stanisław ETA times are available in the navigation app and you can view the ETA to the next shaping point, or next via point or to the end destination. The ETA times are dynamic so they will adjust themselves if you are slower or faster than predicted.

Pause times in the planner are just for getting a rough idea of how long a route will take.
In reality, it’s not possible to plan for unexpected events like heavy traffic because of an accident or your riding buddy taking an unplanned 20 minute toilet break because of the curry he had the night before.
God forbid the day when I have to plan my rides precisely to the clock.

It is possible to add some time for delays. But this extra time need to come from traffic info supplier. It is impossible for the navigation software to calculate this by itself.

I don't know what is the issue with calculating the total time for all the planned (not passed yet) stops and then using that figure to adjust the estimated time of arrival (ETA). It seems to be simple and, as usual, some people would like it, other ones wouldn't 🙂

I completely agree with @Nick-Carthew . What nonsense to stick so rigidly to a timetable if you want to enjoy riding routes. And don’t come to me with the excuse that you have to catch a boat or a train. In that case, you should simply plan extra time in advance by leaving well ahead of schedule. Arriving at your boat just as the gangway is being pulled in, or at your train when the conductor is blowing his whistle, is hardly the scenario for a relaxed ride.

                      Hi All,
It's fun to see the many different opinions and preferences.
I agree that for some it can be found a silly option. That's why I suggested making it an option to turn on/off.

As far as sticking rigidly to a timetable: I understand that any time calculating is subject to change. With or without pause calculated in, the time will vary and that is ok. The time I plan for stops is also subject to how my mood is. Sometime the place I stop dissapoints and I get on the bike as soon as possible. Sometimes I like it so much I stay longer.

It's all about estimates, keeping track of about times and knowing things can vary.

But I would like it and to have the web route and app route times the same.
And @richtea999 I agree the development team probably have more pressing issues and nicer features to attend to 🙂
