MRA Crash when riding in location where there is no cell-signal - Android Auto
-
I was ridding in reagion where there is no signal for sometime more than 30 minutes. Very beautifull place for motorcycle trip.
I was using "Here" map, because they can tell me if road are closed, and traffic issues.. but it seem that there is no "cache" possible with that map. After fiew crash of the app
- seem not following me on the map at at like the GPS not working on Android auto (but the Android version seem to work fine)
- it made other Android App crash as well, and sometime loose my connexion between my phone and Android auto (i'm using a wireless dongle.. so networking crash when something major crash as well)
- i move to the "default" map after, that fix most of my issue
So.. using Android Auto, Here if you plan to ride in location where the signal is poor, it could crash.
Suggestion for the App : message that proposed to switch map when signal not working .. or .. ability the "cache" here map as well.. so when no signal, like Google Map, we will only loose traffic info, new blocked road.. until the traffic re-appear !

A) There is no switching maps while navigating, because Navigation is built on the HERE platform, it ONLY uses the HERE map. What you are probably confused with are the offered map-themes, but they don't influence the map-availability, only the rendering.
B) A map caching facility is already in place, but just like with any on-line map provider (you named gMaps) you can run out of map data after a while
C) B can be mitigated by downloading maps for offline use. Check the app settings, and download the countries you ride through beforehand.
