What does the App flag counter mean?

On my Samsung device I keep seeing these 'unread' counters on the MRA icon, '2', I don't get them on my iOS device, what are they telling me?
I've tried offline map updates, sync'ing my routes and tracks, but it's still there.

@Nick-Carthew Thanks, I've been through each area of the Activity feed but's the '2' is still there.
