New group for MyRoute-app users on DMD2 systems
-
I‘d Like to ask the following question: in case you want to navigate within DMD2 a new route or track you will be asked if you would like to navigate with DMD2 or an external app. If I choose the external App, MRA the app won‘t start. This issue is only valid for MRA. Does anyone know about this issue?
In case this should not be a topic here, please close or delete. Thanks.@silberfuchs67 said in New group for MyRoute-app users on DMD2 systems:

I slightly remind about this question. In the settings, you can disable this question.
But the usual way to start is - like in MyRoute-App:
if you have received a gpx file from anybody- transmit it to a data folder of the DMD device
- may open DMD2 app, goto GPX-Manager and import the gpx into the app
(that's similar to MRA-Routeplanner) - make the imported route or track visible on map
- if start of route or track is close to your location, start to ride, navigation will start automatically

Hi @Guzzist thanks for your support but I think it was a misunderstanding. I meant, if you decide within DMD2 to navigate the route with MRA the MRA App won‘t open. There is an error message. This issue happens only with MRA, Not with other naviagtion apps, e.g. Kurviger or ….

Same problem at my side. Mra start up but then message: this is taking longer than expected! And that is it. Other nav apps work like google maps. Reported problem at dmd2 but get answer that it is a mra problem also because other nav app works.

Thanks @infohagentb.nl - this is exactly the issue I have.

...hmmm understood - but...
Unfortunatelly I only remember slightly about this function. There is a option in the GPS-Settings of DMD2 app, which asks for.
Long time ago, I have switched this option "off" because if I'm just using the DMD2 app (so, I'm inside the app) it seems pointless to me, to open then another app. If this would be my intention, I could open the other app directly upfront... -

Hmmm..., can't confirm this issue.
I tried it several times, and it worked flawlessly. Are you sure you selected a routable destination?

I‘ll give it a try and keep you informed!

@Martin-Wilcke ...thank you Martin, by the help with your Screenshots, now I remember by which action the question about "external app" occurs.
And yes - after I have switched on this question in the settings - I can confirm: routing by external app (in this case MyRoute-App) works correct as expected. But I stand by my opinion: searching for a destination in the app – only to then be navigated by another app – is strange in my view. I might as well use the other app for searching and navigation.

DMD2 does not support using traffic data for calculation/navigation, whereas MRA does (under certain conditions).
Therefore, I use this feature when I have the following use case:
- I navigate a track with DMD2
- I would like to “shorten” a part for some reason by travelling as quickly as possible (also using traffic data)
- I select a destination point on my track and transfer this location to MRA using the method explained here
- This initiates an A-B routing in MRA, calculating the fastest route, and taking traffic data into account
- Once I have reached my destination point, I switch back to DMD2 to continue navigating my track

@Martin-Wilcke ahhh got it - and I learned something new again

But I have never used such a possibility, because where I'm usually riding - there is no traffic

I completely agree - trees don't move

But it's always good to have a few tools and solutions at hand, just in case...
