I need help figuring out how to use the routeplanner app
-
I can use Basecamp at a rookie level. This past summer I created a route from Ottawa to Nova Scotia, then home to Winnipeg in Basecamp…then I traded my FJR1300 with it’s Garmin 396 in on a 2024 BMW R1300 GS. A steep learning curve ensued with the help of a fellow BMW rider near Atlanta who talked me through the process and rational of converting the .gpx files that I had created using Basecamp into files that the Connected Ride Navigator could use..
I am determined to learn and use the routeplanner app - I have the Gold subscription, but I haven’t been able to follow the video’s on Youtube, and the app works in a very different way from Basecamp.
Is there anyone who can help me learn the basics of the routeplanner app using Facetime or Facebook messenger?

After you get the basics of the app, its easy to use !

I suggest you try creating some test routes after checking this page:

I have it figured out..enough to create a couple of routes that I have compared to each other. Luckily for me - there are only a very few ways to get across the Canadian Prairies to the mountains..Accommodations availability is a deciding factor.

Consider dropping down into the US for some great roads or travel north to find more interesting roads and terrain. I did that trip this past summer. 14,000 kms in 29 days.

I’ve taken #16 as far west as Edmonton, #1 as far as Vancouver and #2 as far west as Cadillac, Saskatchewan. The problem with routes south of #1 is the availability and frequency of accommodations.
My first day is Winnipeg - Moose Jaw.
My second day is Moose Jaw - Coleman Ab.
My third day is Coleman Ab. - Creston B.C
My fourth day is Creston - Nakusp

Just to be sure I just created a route that took 2 lane roads south of the Trans-Canada, then measured the distances between stops..and was pleasantly surprised. I just have to confirm the availability of gas stations due to the smaller tank size of my R1300 GS..
