What does the update 1.36 do? I ask for 2 reasons.
Firstly a little while ago I clicked the wrong button and tried to download all of Europe in one go - did not end well, in fact it never ended
Secondly when I go and look at the regions i have downloaded there is no alert that an update is needed.
I think what I am really asking is, that if i hit "download update" will it just download the regions i am using?Screenshot_20240828_084020.jpg

@Tony-13 Correct! It'll re-download the ones you had downloaded.

Downloading that much in one go is really no problem if you have a good wifi connection and the discipline to leave your phone alone while downloading. If you go about other tasks on your phone it sometimes stops downloading and progress seems to be stuck. If that happens, close the app, re-open it, and restart the download. It will index what it already has and re-start downloading from there.

@Peter-Schiefer, If you do a clean install, you can press update to upgrade to the new version (even without any maps yet downloaded) and then start your download. It will download the newest one only if you update first.

Each SDK version (incorporated in the app) has a map version that indicates the lowest map version to be compatible with that specific SDK version. If you do a clean install, it shows the lowest compatible map version (even with no maps actually downloaded).

You see, there is logic to most things you consider to be illogical 😉

@Peter-Schiefer Maybe you misunderstood what @Con-Hennekens was trying to say. The app, both phone and web, has the latest Here maps. If you download maps for offline use that's a different story. You must make shure that when you leave home and want to navigate offline that you have the latest version of the offline maps. In this topic the issue was that it might take some time to download a complete nation. If you make a mistake there it might be simply to just delete to whole bunch and start over again. Relax boys it's just fun driving and don't let your engine get to hot 🙂

@Peter-Schiefer, Like I said, the SDK requires a specific minimum map version. That's what you see there, it has an internal minimum version which you update by pressing update... difficult huh?

You were this and that, you have experience such and so.... You think you are the one who should decide how things work? I think you should step out of your deadlocked ideas. You keep asking questions about things you obviously don't want to understand.

@Peter-Schiefer, @Tony-13 asked another question then you, and I think he received multiple sensible answers. You are the one bringing in the clean install into this thread, you get an explanation, but you refuse to accept it. If I thought you were stupid I would not take the effort to try to inform you. But it would be nice when these efforts were welcomed with a little less reluctancy.

BTW: I don't think many people would find the need to press an update button equal to uneasy.

                  anyway
The app told me how many regions it was going to download, and gave a countdown as it progressed. Did not give a clear "download had finished" message but became obvious it had. I had 7 regions to download which took 20 minutes over WiFi
My preference would be clearer messaging about what the download would do, and ability to choose regions to download.
Neither of which are very important.
And in comparison my Tom Tom will sit there for 4 hours counting down, and then decide to restart the download.
As usual good discussion from everyone. ☺

You are right, the indication of having finished could be clearer. The progress circle does tell that, but the screen keeps saying "Updating". The app throws a system notification though, when it is ready. Glad it worked for you.
