Online/Offline??

I ride my motorcycle in areas where mobile signal coverage can be "patchy". Is there a way for the MRA-app to use online maps when there is sufficient signal but switch automatically to offline maps when signal is lost?
Is that the normal mode of operation anyway?
Does the slider just "force" the app to use offline maps irrespective of the mobile signal?Thanks

@P1LTS by default it does. Normally I use the online mode. Last week during a 8 day trip I discovered that the coverage wasn't great zo I switched to offline mode and then discovered that it works great. Do if you're not shure use the offline mode

@P1LTS Make sure to download all the maps of the areas your route passes through and ensure all your routes are available offline!

@P1LTS, offline maps will be used if available, whether you are online or offline does not matter. The route (re)calculation itself will be done online if possible, or offline if offline mode is enabled.

Thanks for the replies to date, but I am a little confused as there appears to be slightly conflicting information.
If I have the maps downloaded and the route routes also downloaded, BUT, I leave the "offline navigation" slider selected to off, will the app automatically continue navigating using the offline map/info if and when I lose mobile data connection?
Thanks.

@P1LTS That's the general idea like @Con-Hennekens said. What I wrote was my experiance last week on a trip with sometimes bat reception. I don't kno why but when I switched over to offline navigation the problem didn't occur again. Maybe @Corjan-Meijerink can say something usefull to this subject.

@P1LTS Yes, it will! But if you know you enter an area with bad reception, you can decide to navigate offline completely. The app won't toggle between off- and online at that moment.

Yes indeed. Offline maps and offline navigation are two separate things. Offline maps are primarily intended to ease data usage, also when navigating online. When you are navigating online and lose reception, the app will switch to "temporary offline mode" and check for a connection again each 2 minutes. You can force offline navigation by enabling it in the settings.

Thanks for the clarification and information. Appreciated.

So to save data and you select offline, and a signal is available will you still get live traffic or is that disabled?
-
@HighPeakRider if you switch offline there's no live traffic info, you're OFFline

@HighPeakRider, what @Marinus-van-Deudekom said

@P1LTS yes
