HERE Map slow to load on Website using Windows 10 Chrome browser
-
Exactly like the other thread re: Mac OS and Safari browser, the HERE map is slow as molasses to load, refresh, zoom in and out with Chrome browser.
I have a very fast internet connection, no problem with other sites.
Actually no problem with MRA if I abandon HERE and use OSM or other maps as others have done in the Mac OS thread https://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/6370/map-slow-to-update-on-macos-safariBecause I am exporting to a Garmin Zumo XT that uses HERE maps, I have been trying to keep everything consistent. Same map, waypoints on correct lane of freeway, etc.
When I bought my lifetime Gold membership about a year ago the HERE maps loaded "OK" but starting about 2 months ago it hit the wall. It is almost unusable, waiting for the missing squares of the map to fill in. You can zoom in and out and sometimes that wakes it up, but it is painfully slow to draw the image of the map (just default HERE, not hybrid, no satellite).
I am grateful that the route exports OK to the Garmin. Tomorrow is the first test to see if a route created on the MRA website using OSM will be consistent with a GPS running HERE map, without crazy U-turns or waypoints in someone's driveway.

@Bob-Harvey Not a solution for your problem but helpful advice if you’re going to try planning on the OSM map. Switch on the Compare with HERE tool and make both the black OSM line and green/blue HERE line equal.

Yes, this seems to come and go every now and then. To be honest it was never that big of a problem for me. I have no idea whether the stream comes directly from HERE or that it is cached by and loaded from an MRA server.

@Bob-Harvey you don't need to switch to planning with the OSM map. Continue with Here and just select the OSM overlay. Still loads much quicker but but the Here algorithms are used.

Thanks! I was not familiar with that, had to look it up
https://support.myrouteapp.com/support/solutions/articles/12000012095-manual-compare-route-calculation-gold-The maps were SO CLOSE to each other I thought it wasn't comparing to HERE. Then I zoomed in to max and toggled the comparison on and off - found very slight difference but relieved that it was nothing that would affect navigation.

Yeah I suspect the fault is with HERE and we are at their mercy.
In my time zone (USA) it is early Sunday morning right now and the HERE map is loading quickly. I often plan routes Saturday night and the HERE server was probably overloaded when I did my first post on this thread.I suffered with Basecamp for years - TERRIBLE software but at least the map was stored locally on your hard drive. There were no delays loading it or zooming in and out.

Thank you! Another tool I was not familiar with

Not only the Here map. The TomTom map has the same problem from time to time

I always use the Google Maps layer. More speed. More information. More fun.
