Hey everyone!
Last week we announced a new Beta: https://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/4731/new-beta-v4-0-2
The new 4.0.2 Beta version has build number 202 and will be available somewhere later today. You need to update from the Play Store / TestFlight as usual.
This week we've updated the Beta for you all. The changes as mentioned in the previous announcement still apply.
@Corjan-Meijerink said in New Beta! (v4.0.2):
In preparation for facilitating offline search
Preparation has been completed and this updated Beta now includes offline searching!
If you do not have internet and start searching, you will get results
Obviously you do need to have offline maps downloaded to ensure this is possible.
The following search functionalities now work offline:
- Favorites (typing in the search bar as opening from the favorites page)
- Quick & easy POI search
- Address search
- Long press on the map
I'd say: download the update, refresh your favorites, download offline maps, turn off your internet and be amazed!
Furthermore we've updated the menu to prevent confusing users with what functionalities are native within the app and what part is within the website
We are really looking forward to your feedback about this Beta!
Cheers,
Corjan@Corjan-Meijerink well done (again)

@Dave-J-0 no worries! Happy you asked
@Corjan-Meijerink Is there a change that affects the functionality of Barbuttons?
In keymap 1 I suddenly have a problem that buttons 1 and 2 (zoom in and zoom out) no longer work. The LED indicating that a command has been sent on the bar button does light up and everything else seems to work normally. -

What firmware are you using?
Please verify if the current production version / previous Beta (4.0.1) does work how you expect!

@Corjan-Meijerink there appears to be a different app reaction between iOS and Android when you select a route and you have no internet and you then 'start' the selected route.
Both iOS and Android show the 'downloads' option if no internet and you select 'routes' from the menu. Selecting 'downloads' then correctly takes me to my downloaded files area and selection of one of these routes then shows the route overview with start and route options. Same route used on both devices. All good so far - great work.
With iOS, selecting 'start' then initiates nav correctly with the offline icon showing. I have not had to go to nav settings at all. Brilliant.
With Android, selection of start brings up the 'something went wrong' prompt and I have to manually turn on offline navigation in the settings.
However and separately, if I long press on the map to use the new search feature to navigate to a point then the navigation initiates correctly with no error prompt and the offline icon is showing correctly. I have not had to turn offline on at all in this instance. selecting from my 'Favourites' also work correctly.
Just appears to be a problem with the route approach initiating offline when no internet. Furthermore, if you have already selected a point and favourite rpruor to a route then the app is already offline and there is no issue.Hope this all makes sense.

@Dave-J-0 Thanks for sharing!
As the error on Android does not indicate it's related to internet, can you check if the issue persists with all your routes? If I had to take a guess from behind my pc - the route you are trying to load on Android passes a region you haven't downloaded offline.Obviously something can indeed be wrong but I'm very sure the implementation on Android & iOS is the same so therefore I'm guessing it's related to the offline maps.

@Corjan-Meijerink I deliberately chose a route that maps were downloaded although I do go from England into Wales - I do this a lot because I am 30 mins from mid-Wales (awesome riding).
No problem with iOS just Android when I have selected a route at the start to navigate. Same thing happens with my other downloaded routes on Android which are just in England and local to me.

@Dave-J-0 I have had the same issue with my Android Pixel. I have deleted the maps and downloaded again. After that it works.

@DerRoteBlitz Tried that and still the same problem. Thank you for the suggestion.

When having no internet, clicking the routes button shows the message "Something went wrong" and the Downloads button is presented. It would be great if that text would change into "You have no online connection, click Downloads for offline routes".
Then if you go to Downloads and start a route, The same massage appears, with the sub text "Can't calculate route". Why not throw a question "would you like to go offline and try again?". Especially if offline maps are present.

@Con-Hennekens I could go with the suggestion. However, the current flow is brilliant on iOS and I would like the same on Android. It is just this one glitch that would be great if it could be solved. I like the fact that offline happens automatically and that I can see that I am offline by the icon.

@Dave-J-0 I agree with you because today I encountered this problem on Android. You only receive the message that something went wrong and then you self have to think what went wrong and how can I solve that. On iOS it gives you the solution and a button you need to click on to make it work.

@Dave-J-0, I was not aware that there is a different workflow on IOS. In that case they should be made equal indeed.

@Con-Hennekens The iOS workflow works brilliantly and Android should be the same apart from the glitch I encountered. The flow causes an error (when no internet) in not switching automatically to offline to allow calculation from the downloaded route and map like iOS does with the last build 202.

@Peter-Schiefer @Edwin_M This update has not improved anything related to the offline maps download stability. If you experience issues or it's stuck / corrupted, reinstalling might be the only solution.
@Edwin_M Thanks for sharing the stuck notification
From the top of my head I'm not sure what the expected behavior is.
@Corjan-Meijerink just did another Download , and now the message was ok: regions downloaded and I was able to swipe it away.
