I’ll start by saying that this is the first time that I have not had any spoken announcements or warnings, I’ve mentioned before that the announcements have been quiet but never total silence.

So, today was a test day for me.
I wanted to test a few functions that I don’t normally use and test some features that others have had problems with.
I had planned a short route using MRA Mobile app, normally I plan all of my routes on the PC.
Test 1 complete, creating routes using the mobile app is incredibly easy, even for someone like me with worn out eyes and sausages for fingers.
I had selected the new option in the navigation settings to automatically save the route for offline use, I’ll tell you now that this worked perfectly.

So with the route planned I attached my phone to my bike using a Quadlock mount.
I am using an iPhone 11 plugged into a 2.1 amp USB socket via the via the 12 volt Hella outlet on my Triumph Tiger XRT.

I switched on tracking and had no other apps open and started the ride.
I noticed straight away that there were no announcements, more about that later.

I wanted to test the charge capability of my setup as so many others had said that they were having problems with significant battery drain. I have used MRA Next countless times and have never noticed a battery problem, but I thought that I would become a scientist for the day and do a real life test.
My phone battery was at 20% when I left, I made a short stop for coffee after 50 minutes and checked my phone’s battery, it had gone up to 64% with no significant heat detected. 40 minutes later and I was back home with the battery now charged to 84% and again, no significant heat. The ambient temperature according to my Tiger was 22°c.
So my conclusion, which I know that our resident tech gurus already know is; not all phones are affected with significant battery drain.

    Now for my other findings:
After a few miles I pulled over to see why I was not getting spoken announcements. My phone and helmet were definitely connected via Bluetooth and the MRA audio settings were correct.
I clicked the stop navigation button and then chose to resume which worked very well. I continued my journey but still in silence. At my coffee stop I turned off my Cardo Packtalk headset hoping that would make a difference but sadly it didn’t. I did take a photo within the app while tracking was paused and again that function worked perfectly.
In the process of writing this I realise that the only thing I didn’t do was reload the route, maybe that would have kickstarted the spoken announcements.
I am assuming that the silence that I encountered is a glitch, and probably, next time I use the app all will be well. But a glitch is a glitch and should be reported so that’s my job done.
I’ll follow up with my next ride report tomorrow.

Edit: I encountered no significant lag in either the track or position markers. A little jumpy in places but not significant.

Always willing to help if I can.

@Nick-Carthew I also have an iphone 11 and no battery loss or phone heating either.

On my motorcycle, I use a DMD-T665 navigation phone paired with a SilverFox controller. In my car, I use wireless CarPlay with my iPhone 15 Pro.

@StefanHummelink I compare IOS to TomTom devices they just work without any complications, unlike Android and Garmin. The amount of topics in this forum referencing Android and Garmin is testament to that. 😊

That may be true with regard to the physical devices but I would offer that thanks to the fantastic developers at MRA, the playing field is now completely even for iOS and Android if using the Beta Apps.
