Disable Route Recalculation

Is it possible to turn route recalculation on/off like Garmin can?
I know you can always add more shaping points to a route, but if I'm out and I receive a route from someone else and they haven't added lots of these - I don't want to spend too much time editing, or I maybe in an area with spotty data signal which prevents me editing.
If I could simply turn off the recalculation, then if I take a wrong turn, or a road is closed I can navigate my own way back without the risk of the route being changed... -
@Matthew-Wiacek Not sure if this will be implemented in all honestly. Will however make sure we discuss it.
What we do plan to implement is the constant display of the original route. So you can always manually drive back to that line on the map.

That is an awesome idea

Seems to me a good idee, maybe even better then recalculation"off" if color is different with the recalculate part of the route.

That does sound like a great feature. That maybe more useful than the Garmin recalculate on/off option.

This would be great!
Small suggestion: could you create a "bullshit button"? Sometimes the devices like this just get it wrong. Or what I want is just to different.
What I would like: if we start deviating from the route to much I can quickly tell the device: shut-up and do nothing and let me solve it. It should start (or promt to start) once back on the route.

Couldn't tell if the thrashing on this subject is done or not, but I think I would like to see something like this done. Last night, I created a simple loop where destination was closer to me than the start point. I just wanted to get familiar with MRA on the road. As it turn out, I rolled past the destination and it constantly wanted me to turn around before I got to the first starting point.
My use case is that I create many out and back routes. I'm in California and I take quite a few rides up the Pacific Coast, then go east for a while then loop back home. I'm worried that it'll see that crossing a certain freeway is a faster way home instead of sticking to the route/tour I created. There's nothing noting whether a decision on this has been made, so just wanted to chime in.

@Robert-Lasirona, Thrashing...? The originally calculated routeline will be kept visible (if you tell it to in the settings). That functions a bit according to keeping the track-line visible on a Zumo. Disabling calculations will not happen. And has, as far I am concerned, no use if the usual functions work properly.

@Con-Hennekens
While navigating with my Nav V (Garmin) I always make the track visible with a black line. The route is pink.As soon as I deviate from the route (obstructions, missed a turn, etc.) I still have the original plan visible as a black line. That way it is easy to ride back to the black line and the navigation picks up the route again.
I would very much appreciate a similar mode in MyRoute, i.e. the original track remans visible at all time.
-
@Dikke-Wim, That similar mode IS available. That's what I was telling. The original route is kept visible (like your black track line), so you can drive back to the route like you are used to on your Garmin. As an extra (and a plus) you get a suggestion on how to drive back to the route.
-
Really? You make my day. I didn't have time to test the latest update of Navigation Next beta, but I'm looking forward to test this.
Thanks Con! (and the programmers of Navigation Next

@Dikke-Wim @Con-Hennekens is a great help!

Sorry, is this inappropriate? I typically use it when ideas are being flushed out and details and aligned between stakeholders.

Is this a setting when the route has been started? Because I thought I went thru settings earlier while at my desk and didn't see anything suggesting a way to disable recalculations. I'll look again once I go out for another ride.

No, I just never heard that word in that context

No there is no setting to stop calculating. It is the essence of navigation to calculate. But there IS a setting that keeps the original route visible when you deviate. Much like many Garmin users who set their track visible when navigating a route. That gives you the possibility to return to the original route the way you see fit, but it will not stop Next from proposing it's own way back to the route. You may ignore the voice, you know

@Con-Hennekens as it turns out, I just went ahead and edited the route in the HERE map and everything has been running as expect. Also, set it as my default now.
