Suggestion: speed cameras
-
Hi,
Maybe itΒ΄s useful ( at least for me ) to have the information with the distance to the next speed camera in active route.
It could appear under the distance to the nearest gas station, imo there's enough screen space to add that info
P.S. don't believe in my speed (bellow near speed limit) I'm not in a rocket
-
I don't know if Flitsmeister is available in your country. But its integration has been announced in Next Phase 4.
-
@Jack-van-Tilburg I confess that I don't know what "Flitsmeister" is, but I google it and now I understand what you are talking about
And, yes, Flitsmeister its available in Portugal, but my suggestion it's not only the integration with speed camera alerts (as is already happen in current version of Navigation), I would like to have speed cameras information earlier in the route, because if the speed cameras information only appears when I'm about 100 or 200 meters from the trap, it's easy to miss it.
-
@Jack-van-Tilburg @Jose-Pinheiro-0 Flitsmeister has been removed from the roadmap as we probably wonβt be able to implement it.
Speed cameraβs however will be included in app from the first beta onwards! No worries about that
Distance to the speed camera is shown too! -
I was just referring to this post from Michel:
Fase 04: 1 mei 2023 - 1 juni 2023
Too bad these messages are not maintained. -
@Corjan-Meijerink Great

As is probably expected: I fully, totally and completely support this message.
The MRA communication contains some outdated statements and promises that reduce MRA credibility.
-
@Drabslab
There is a small group, not affiliated with MRA, who do their very best to answer questions from other users here on the forum. These so-called 'top posters' have to do without support, based on their own knowledge or based on notifications from 'MRA officials' in blogs or here on the forum.
Personally I am not active here for MRA but for the users. But if information and notifications from MRA on the forum, in blogs or in a Roadmap are not maintained and are unreliable, I increasingly lose the desire to continue this help. -
@Corjan-Meijerink please remove it from the publicly available roadmap as well. The roadmap page still says: "In this phase we are going to dot the i's and cross the t's and integrate Flitsmeister".
-
In this particular instance, Corjan may have been typing a bit too fast (or too early) and this info was maybe not supposed to go out so soon. In that case we should be glad for being taken into confidence
But in general, I agree, I have at some point been quite angry about some chaos around MRA planning and communication but since I learned to look at it as an independent outsider watching a very interesting hobby club operate, I am all right.
And let's not forget, we probably both have experience how tightly managed projects (over)loaded with Prince II, RUP, ISO 9000, ... procedures and approaches can still go horribly wrong.
Against all that stands that roadmaps (public or not) need to be respected, maintained and corrected as soon as reality beats the dream.
MRA public information is "all over the place" and this is damaging its future which is also for us (as users and interested fans?) not a good thing.
-
I think it makes sense to have a webbased dynamically maintained roadmap to which MRA and the "helpers" on this forum can direct people with questions. I can imagine going back to old forum messages to maintain whatever was said back then is not the easiest method of maintenance.
I think it is a pity that flitsmeister integration is cancelled. Does Corjan care to tell us why?

Thanks for noticing, it has been adjusted.
@Drabslab I am indeed typing pretty fast Today has been a good day and major steps with regards to voice guidance have been taken.
In all honestly, I am trying to actively partake in discussion on the forum based on my own personal interest. I am not really the one responsible for all official communications. My time is better spent on typing code
As you mention, information is all over the place. That sometimes causes issues like this where updates aren't applied properly everywhere.
@Con-Hennekens With regards to the Flitsmeister integration, we removed it from our roadmap as the chances of successfully completing the contract negotiations have deminished. Nonetheless, we already got excellent traffic information / speed camera information from HERE.

In full agreement. but this roadmap should not be produced as an afterthought, publicity stunt, or side show. The roadmap should be the core tool to manage projects and the public roadmaps should be an automatic publication of a subset of the info available.
maybe have a look at this:

I totally agree Ensuring correct communication is not a development job, and besides, it would hinder your free exchanges with the users that may be valuable for improving MRA.
That doesn't mean that correct official communication is not important, and MRA could really significantly improve in this domain.
And finally, yes: things go wrong, yes: things can be improved, and most importantly yes: progress is made.
Keep on typing

@Drabslab Thanks for your kind words and understanding

Thanks for the thanks
But while fully agreeing that this is NOT your developers responsibility, it remains a fact that MRA communication is a bit on the wild side, and needs some cleaning up.

Thats sad. I couldn't image it would be a technical issue, for it being in your capable hands The more dynamicly user-generated info if FM is in my view a lot more accurate than what Here does.
-
@Con-Hennekens You are completely correct! With regards to dynamic data, FM is simply the best (for this region of Europe).
Technically is would have been quite fun and relatively easy to manage but given their market position you can imagine that contract negotiations can become quite intens To manage expectations we thought it was best to remove it. It wasn't without reason that it was scheduled as last.
-
@Corjan-Meijerink, probably already discussed, but I can imagine FM does not want to lose customers to MRA. Has an implementation that needs validation with a FM account been investigated? This way a customer of MRA could choose for a FM subscription to enable the integration. This way they don't lose customers, but can gain many more.
-
@Con-Hennekens Thanks for thinking with us! We have discussed quite some possibilities already. We'll see what the definitive conclusion is.
