Alternative routes navigation app
-
Hi all
My navigation app loads my route perfectly.
If navigates well. But at a lot of crossroads he gives alternative routes. Is there an option to turn this off? -
@arjan-de-vries, Which navigation app are you using?
-
@arjan-de-vries As far as I know, no navigation device offers alternative routes while navigating.
-
@con-hennekens navigation from mra
-
Can you share a screenshot of those alternative routes?

I have never seen alternative routes in MRA Navigation.
It would not make any sense, besides A to B navigation.
A screenshot would be nice indeed! -
@con-hennekens My guess is that the app didn’t offer alternative routes. The track lines might have been visible at crossroads because the app was trying to reroute due to inaccurate positioning of route points.
-
@nick-carthew perhaps. but the zumo xt has no problem with the road!
-
we did not see alternative roads but what we often did see was that the Zumo xt followed the route and the navigation app decided to go the other way. See pics.!
-
@arjan-de-vries Thanks for the screenshot. The map used in the XT is a different version to the map that MRA Navigation uses. I suspect that adding a few more route points would solve the problem. Can you share your route here please then I or others can give you advice for future route planning.

@nick-carthew Good tip!
Here is a link to the route:

@arjan-de-vries Thanks for sharing your route. From what I understand, the Garmin XT is quite particular about the position of route points. You have to place them accurately on the road. Several of the route points are not on the road.
-
@arjan-de-vries It is also advisable to not place route point too close to junctions, roundabouts and viaducts. The reason for this is to allow for any inaccuracies while the roads were being mapped and the accuracy of the satellite signal when you use the route. Sometimes it can be 20m out and this could send you up a side road and then tell you to turn around.

thank you all
