Pay for beta?
-
Hi,
Can somebody explain to mae why we have to pay for the beta myroute app planner coming november 2nd? I am a gold member and I understand I have to pay 49 Euros to get access.
Is the big public update free of charge for goldmembers?
So why should we pay 49 euros now? (just an open question, no critisism)Let me know your thoughts (or the answer)

@Arjan-de-Vries the €49 is for early access, a badge on your profile, but to me most important, Lifetime group rides and working with others on the same route

@Arjan-de-Vries, you get access free of charge from 15th of februari. Just not for the extra new features like Marinus said. So, the 49 euro are mainly for lifetime access to those specific new features, and for early beta access, which no one forces on you

So as MRA Routeplanner Gold Lifetime member and Navigation Next Lifetime we are expexted to keep paying for new "Lietime" features? I am the only one in my group that uses MRA, so I don't need the Lifetime group rides, but it worries me for how long the Lifetime MRA and Navigation Next will have value

@Bjorn-Bjornstad, It will have all the value you have been experiencing up till now AND much more, even without the lifetime on the new features. We are talking about Group Rides (seeing each other on the navigation map) and Route planning collaborations (working on routes with multiple people at once). Those features are more than specific enough to have them on a separate subscription, and most "ordinary" users will probably show little interest in them. Besides these specific features there are MANY new features that will enrich your Gold subscription without paying anything.

I read that you get all functies what you have in current subscriptions, simple what you in your current subscription you keep.
If you like to support MRA, like me, you pay 49 euro and then you get a view extra functies as lifetime to. -
I understand and agree with the poster. I bought "lifetime" for the planner and the app....now I find that they're on the way out for a new set that I need to pay for again. I truly like myroute app, and the planner, and I appreciate the developers efforts...as far as "supporting them", I did... I bought a lifetime subscription, AND I have encouraged others to do the same. I find this whole thing troubling...and before someone points out that I can still use the original... They already stated that it will be phased out down the road...We users of myroute app and planner have been the beta testers for this future product...have stood by through the bugs... and now that the product pretty much works good (it still has issues now and then)... they rebadge it and want users to pay again....again... I supported them by buying a lifetime... and I supported them by showing others the app and encouraging them to buy it....whom by the way are not going to complain to the developers about this turn of events... they're going to complain to ME, the guy who talked them into buying it....one as recent as a few weeks ago.
This whole thing is WRONG... I understand that fresh ideas require fresh income, and a lifetime subscription offering does not bring in fresh income...you should have never offered it to begin with if you want rolling income, however, you DID...and those who put their faith in you and paid for a lifetime instead of paying monthly should be grandfathered in and in they should ELIMINATE the lifetime subscription for future subscribers to keep a rolling income. The new app and planner should be given to the current lifetime, I can understand paying extra for AI or group stuff.

@Allan-Deal Long story short: you haven’t done your homework, or you really don’t understand what’s going on! You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about! As @nick-carthew already suggested: WATCH THE VIDEO!

It seems like some people just don’t want to understand. Apparently, reading is really difficult.

working with others on the same route
Hey @marinus-van-deudekom, do you know if only one user needs the new license, or if everyone working on the same route needs to purchase it?

Even though I'm not a beta tester, I'd like to share some feedback.
First, the new features shown in the video look great, and I'm looking forward to using them on my next big trip.
My feedback is mainly about the communication around the launch. Communication is always challenging, especially when introducing significant changes to a product.
As a long-time software customer, I understand the industry's shift from one-time purchases (on media, run only locally on own hardware) to cloud-based subscription models and the ongoing costs associated with running online services. That's also why I tend to purchase lifetime subscriptions when they are offered.
In the video, you explained that you intend to honor existing lifetime subscriptions and meet the expectations of those customers. Thank you for clarifying that.
However, when I first read the email announcement, I interpreted Routeplanner Next as almost being a new product rather than an evolution of the existing Routeplanner. With some companies, that would mean the new platform receives all future development while existing customers remain on a legacy product with limited or no new features.
After watching the video, I understand that this is not your intention. The video completely addressed my concern.
This is why communication can be so difficult: the information you shared between 1:50 and 3:30 in the video was exactly what I needed to hear. If that message had also been included in the email, I would not have been concerned in the first place.
Overall, I'm excited about the new features and appreciate the clarification.

I am a Gold member, but I no longer own a motorcycle. I cycle a lot and frequently download cycling routes that I find online. I always review these downloaded routes using MRA, making corrections or adjustments—most notably, I often change the starting location. Given how I use the platform, is it worth it for me to pay the €49 fee (aside from the fact that it supports the developers), or would it serve no real purpose for my needs?

working with others on the same route
Hey @marinus-van-deudekom, do you know if only one user needs the new license, or if everyone working on the same route needs to purchase it?
@Adrian-Avram if you want to work on the same route both must have the extra add on
