@Mike-wiruth The standard and recommended format is GPX 1.1
However, this isn't necessary at all for using the MRA Next app offline.
The important thing is that the maps are available offline and that the routes are synced.
Everything else works automatically when you navigate with MRA Next.
If you're absolutely sure you don't have cell service, you can also navigate completely offline right away.
To do this, simply go to the app's navigation settings, select “Route Calculation,” and enable the “Offline Navigation” option

When you (still) use Basecamp I would recommend GPX 1.1 (route, track, POI).
You can then plan the route using the ‘recalculate’ option and afterwards easily check for any discrepancies against the track you’ve recorded. If you send the route and track from Basecamp to the GPS via a cable, you can be sure that everything stays the same.
I’ve been doing it this way for years and have never had any problems with the route! -
Ok, another sound: I prefer the 1.2 for my XT(1), because it fits exactly to my preferences: the route is based on a track, all viapoints are in the route, pauses you add to routepounts are added tot the ETA, so you know exactly when to tell your wife when to prepare dinner

Another 1.2 fan here. If you’re running your route on an XT, XT2 or XT3, what you create on MRA Routeplanner is recalculated the same (without fail) on the Garmin.

I understand your reasoning, but when I use version 1.2 and import it into Basecamp, the route I get is just a straight line between the start and end points. The track is correct, but I can’t recalculate the route in Basecamp so that it largely follows the track.
In version 1.1, when I recalculate the route, it does follow the track (and the waypoints I’ve entered), so I usually only need to tweak a few details! -

I've tried importing 1.2 routes into Basecamp, and it usually doesn't come in correctly. In the nutshell, I don't think BC understands 1.2 GPX format.
Regardless of where I create a route (MRA, Basecamp, etc.), I export it as a GPX file. I then do a wired file copy directly into the Garmin/GPX folder on the GPS. A 1.1 route is not guaranteed to recalculate in the GPS exactly as it was created. Sometimes, additional WP's have to be added to force GPS recalculation as intended. With 1.2, it's guaranteed to recalculate as intended. At least, that's been the case with the dozens of 1.2 routes I've exported.

@John-S-Parry GPX 1.2 is a format developed by MRA for Garmin devices. That’s why I suspect it is incompatible with BaseCamp.

Ahhh, that explains why the 1.2 format for me will not work. Well, I can coop with the 1.1 format te be used in Basecamp.

@a-white-mouse-on-the-motorbike no, why using Basecamp when you have MRA??? Don't come with the story that only Basecamp has the right maps for the XT. That is purely theoretical. The 1.2 is a route based on a track, with only the viapoints, therefore you have no shapingpoints. That is why you get a straight line and recalculating won't help. In this case Basecamp is making a route of its own. I use MRA since 2021 and have never used Basecamp anymore for controlling my routes. Examine the route carefully, if the waypoints are on the grey line and that's it.

@Peter-Zehentreiter Is there any disadvantage to navigating offline? If I have that chosen, will it only navigate off line when there is no signal?
