Map definition/ clarity
-
I use a Zumo XT on the bike and MRA Next in the motorhome. Most of my route planning is done on the web site as a22" monitor makes life easier.
My problem is that MRA Next maps on Android have much poorer definition than the Zumo XT.
Am I missing something as no matter which map I use they are never as good to my eyes.

I agree, I use the Android also. You can play with the Options in teh Navigation App on the phone. Go into Navigation settings / Map layeramd poke around to find the one that suits you the best. Don't forget a little ">" under the title "Map layer" on the right to explore further.

Is it me or has the arrow head that shows your position and direction changed to a circle with a pointy nodule. Of this is the case its made it harder to catch a quick glance!!!

@tonyS I use the same combo... yes the maps don't look like Garmin and never will, because that depends on what "Here" gives us.

...also Garmin-XT isn't perfect: the used colours are'nt contrasty enough. I don't understand why every manufacturer uses such pastell colours. Thank God, Garmin uses a simple text file, to define the colours for streets, forests, cities etc. So it's really easy to change used colours to your own preferences. Also to get more contrast

Would be nice, if MyRoute-App next would also use such a extra text file to (re)define the map colours...

I'm also for better contrast for the map. When it's sunny and my sun shield visor is down, it becomes really problematic to see map details properly. The marked route sure but anything else, like side roads and so on might as well be not there. This was never a problem on my old zumo 396 and no, it's not a phone problem either. The T665 that I have now might not be the brightest bulb in the box as it where, but it is pretty good.

@Ioan-Dragulescu I have set Colour scheme to Dart, Edition to Logistics and Building view to 3D to try and get more contrast. I wonder sometimes what glasses the developers wear?
I am now looking at DMD2 which can import .gpx and has touch map to select a destination. Try it from Play Store and then download the .apk from the website.
Sad thing is I've paid for Gold but MRA Navigation Next fails in so many areas.

I've never tried the night modes during day time. I could and see what's what. I have DMD2, it comes with the phone so I have a full license for it. But... and this will sound so shallow, I got used to having my old garmin on all the time, just to see the speed limits, speed cameras and so on and any app that does no use HERE maps, will not show speed limits in free roaming mode so ... yeah. I kinda'f like MRA Nav for this

@Ioan-Dragulescu I selct Dart not Dark.
Yes me too the Zumo XT was on all the time but is starting to fail so I'm going down the Carpuride route. The W702 Plus has an Android OS and PlayStore so I'll try DMD2 when it arrives.
