No roads found when trying to navigate route in Japan

I am currently riding in Japan. I made routes in the MRA planner prior and all roads showed in the map. Now I am here the route displays in the App but just a few roads display and they are all broken, as in bits of a highway show not the entire highway.
Is there something I am not doing. I have not had this problem navigating with the app in other countries.

@warren.mallettoutlook.com I think the problem is that the HERE map for Japan is woefully lacking in detail.
