what is the best way to view navigation from app?
-
Hello all, I was wondering what is the best way to use the navigation part of the app. I have an IOS device and use the myroute app for bus routes I have created for my bus routes. The app seems clunky on the phone. So I was wondering if there was a better device than Iphone to use. I drive a different bus each day and I will have to have something portable. What are some suggestions?

@Matt-Anderson-0, Clunky? What do you mean by that, not enough map available? In that case, just use a bigger phone or tablet

Hi, I use an 8" tablet (Oukitel RT3pro).

@MotoCon If you use a bigger phone or tablet the view will be the same, but just bigger. As far as I know you get the same information on your screen. Correct?

@Marinus-van-Deudekom, yes but not evenly enlarged.

@MotoCon by clunky, I mean it seems slow, and some of the roads in my area don't show up. As well as when I pass waypoints on the navigation, they stay on the map or the app tries to navigate a different way than I have planned out on the route creator. I am in America and this app seems to be based out of europe where it would get more support and better navigation. Over in the states most people rely on IOS or Android devices. So I was asking for recommendations for a device. I noticed in the route creator that it mentions Tom Tom and HERE devices. So I was looking to purchase one if it was good and price was reasonable.

@Matt-Anderson-0, The app does not seem slow to me at all. Maybe it is your iPhone? I don't have any Apple stuff, but friends do and I never heard the term "slow" from them. If you hate slow, I would certainly stay away from TomTom or Garmin products...

You are clearly biased against Garmin and your statement demonstrates the fact perfectly. The latest XT3 devices are highly regarded for their speed of operation. Specifically:
The new capacitive touchscreens mean that panning, map scrolling, pinching-to-zoom, and typing on the screen etc. happen quickly and fluidly.
Routing and dynamic re-routing is faster than MRA on my phone.
Every rider I have met with an XT3 comments about its great performance. Performance is also called out as a positive in every online review video I have watched.
I find your comment to be disingenuous and misleading given the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
I can't comment on TomTom devices as I have no experience of, or interest in them.

@Stevedo-6-0 Everything you posted above regarding the XT3 is factually correct. Literally every function is lightning fast. It's a game changer in the GPS world.
I was out on a ride yesterday, running a route on my XT3 and on MRA phone is parallel. While I had no major complaints about the MRA phone app, the XT3 off-route functionality was faster and more fluid. Despite the continuous improves to the MRA app, there are HW speed differences between a dedicated GPS and a phone app that can probably never be completely bridged.
Regardless, it does a disservice to the navigation community to try to push one product at the expense of others when the facts are just wrong. Hopefully, it was simply ignorance based on not knowing the current state of Garmin devices.

Or maybe you don't know the current status of the latest MRA Next Navigation

@Stevedo-6-0, I will gladly admit that I have no experience with an XT3 (and that will be permanent. I do have experience with multiple Zumo's before XT, and they were always terribly slow. And that's not really a surprise given the hardware they chose for their products. I have spoken two friends that actually did have an XT3. They both sold it off quickly because they were slow, and because they are terribly complicated to put routes on, which often also get frumbled during import.
I will also gladly admit that Zumo's have some advantages. Like you said, glove operation is so much better then on a phone. The active mount I consider a pro also. And their usable duration is also much higher then any phone. But I am just glad that for the price of 1 XT3 I can buy 3 Android phones, so the latter is no real problem for me.
No I am not biased against Garmin (I use their outdoor products too), but for navigation of motorbike routes I am certainly biased towards a phone with a great app like MRA, or any other app you can widely choose from. And with reason

This sounds a bit like you are pushing one product at the expense of others. And no I am not up to speed (
) on the current state of Garmin devices. Also I am not pushing anything, I am just giving my opinion. I literally don't know anyone anymore who can show me a modern Zumo. They all went the phone route. But obviously they must all have been biased against Garmin products
