    Hello.
Today, i've used my MRA Nav for the first time. Efficient although not very intuitive. For example, I was unable to find a gas station on my route while I continued my journey. How to do that ?

@Pierre-c You should see a ‘nearest fuel’ icon on your active route screen:

      D823E301-04F2-4D36-874E-25485EA832B6.jpeg

Tapping that will add a diversion to your route and, once fuelled up, will direct you back onto it.

I only find this icon in the routes calculated by MRA-Nav, but not in those imported from the MyRoute-App program (created on my PC)

@Pierre-c Imported? You mean synchronized right?

The fuel icon will be shown no matter the type of route you're navigating. Routes created by the nav app itself or by a route made in the routeplanner, are the same.

Are you sure fuel stations are present near your location where the fuel icon does not show?

You could add a fuel POI to your route remembering that not all fuel stations are included in the POI library. Try searching for a fuel station using the Google map and then add your own custom POI to your route.

@Nick-Carthew Oh Yes, This is a great idea. Especially since gas stations are increasingly rare in the French countryside ...
I'll use this way. Thanks a lot.

@Pierre-c Remember that the POIs will only be visible at 1 km or lower zoom level.

Talking about french countryside. The speed camera's are unfortunately not rare at all and come together with the most confusing speed limits 90-80-50-80-70-30-50-80-50-90-... I ever experienced.

A good warning system for those pests would be highly appreciated.

Is it not illegal to use any form of scamera alert system that details the location of one in France? That is, not just stand alone detection/blocking devices.

I recall some fuss several years ago around this after it became apparent that use of UK market devices would be illegal there, but it transpired that no action would be taken if the facility was found to be switched off. I believe the only allowable alerts are those that warn of being in a ‘camera zone’, i.e. a wider area in which there ‘might’ be scamera(s)in use. TomTom adopted this approach soon after, it seems.🤷‍♂️

@PAD-0 yes, it is totally illegal in France.

However, just being back from two weeks in France, it appears as if the speed limits have been spread over the roads with a random number generator. Only logic remaining is that in cities or villages; 50km/h is the standard, if not indicated differently as being 30km/h, and I also saw 70 km/h in the middle of a city, and the best one: a white painted 50 km/h on the road with a sign 70km/h right next to it.

And what about a road in the middle of nowhere with a roadsign for 90 km/h in one direction and 70 km/h in the other direction.

This seems specially designed to create confusion and generate income for the state in combination with a massive amount of speed cameras (even in the middle of forests or mountain roads).

Having some protective equipment bcomes self-defence.

@Drabslab There aren’t many travellers that haven’t encountered speed cameras in France. I believe that since Brexit it will be more difficult to pursue those from the UK. 😊

@Nick-Carthew Don't mention Brexit. It's part of my daily job and a total nightmare. I don't want this to end in a political row, but I have never met any person, british or not, that could give me one real world benefit for anyone.

and Yes, I am dreaming to go the the UK later in november this year for another hobby (Telford IPMS scale modelling event). Done that for many years with a whole group (16 or something) as a kind of modelling pilgrimage; This year we would be 8 maximum. The rest does not want to go anymore -fear of customs-anger for brexit (if they don't want us anymore ...)-uncertainly about legal and insurance situation in case of an accident ...

@Drabslab By the way: there could be camera's in front of the chunnel recognising licence plates, and you would have to pay before leaving France.

I agree, politics should not be discussed on a navigation forum, but as you haven’t met anyone to give you a real world benefit, let me just say:
The UK vaccine programme has proved to be far better than the EU fumbled attempt and despite the EU making it incredibly difficult for the UK, Nissan has announced over £400million of investment in the UK post Brexit. Us Brits are still European, nothing has changed. Johnny Foreigner will still be made to feel very welcome when he visits the UK despite what you might read or hear from the politically motivated media.
As for legal matters, nothing has changed, your license and insurance is still valid and as before, you’ll need to bring your vehicle registration document the same as Brits do when we go abroad.
I understand that the UK is a bit of a Mecca when it comes to scale models. Timo ordered some from the UK for himself last Christmas. (They arrived ok so did my new MRA RouteXpert jacket, it arrived from MRA HQ two days after posting)
Tell your buddies that there is nothing to fear and they won’t notice any change at all.

@Drabslab I believe many in the UK have similar fears about visiting the EU now. Not only is it a crying shame, but it seems very largely unnecessary to me. Most of it is borne of media hyped ‘culture wars’ being fabricated by powerful groups and corporations with vested interests in division and destabilisation and the politicians who are in their pockets…

You and your mates come to the UK - you’ll be among friends.👍

Well, there is OpenStreetMap where you can take this information from. For free. Not in MRA, but you can easily extract that info from the OSM database and push it into your GPS device. I have a link available if you're interested, once upon a time I made a YouTube video of the steps to take for doing so...
